I originally got a specialized rock hopper. I was told it's a good beginner mountain bike to get out and going. After weeks of having it the derailer was having issues. Knowing I had a warranty I took it to them. They ended up replacing the derailer and telling me my warranty was over because of the replacement part. Since replacement I have had more problems with the gears shifting as well as the cranks coming loose. No biggie. I went riding and broke some spokes on a rear tire. I took it to them and they inspected it and told me they could fix it $50 and 2 weeks. On the 2 week mark I went in and it wasn't touched yet. They informed me that they would have it done by the end of the day and then I got a call saying that the outer loop had a flat spot and couldn't be repaired. They were more then willing to make me pay for a new rim. I ended up taking it to the bicycle hub in South Hill and they looked at immediately and said that it was fixable. They gave me about a week and a half timeline that they would replace it and the cost was only $35. Very upset that they had my rim for 2 weeks after looking at it just to get a call saying they can't fix it which was BS. Also that my warranty just disappears after a repair for a bike that I barley ride gravel...
Read moreI had an excellent experience buying a bike at Bonney Lake Bicycle Shop of Sumner. It took me three or four visits to their shop plus a couple of phone calls there, before I finally settled on a bike. I had compared prices at other bicycle shops and Bonney Lake was competitive. I found that this shop was well managed, had excellent experience on the sales floor and good mechanics in the service area. I have since returned to buy fenders and other accessories and my good experience there continues. This shop treats their customers well in my opinion in order to gain returning customers. They have been in business for over twenty years and I had purchased tires there years before with a good experience back then as well. I believe in supporting your local bicycle shop and if you live in the area of Sumner, I would recommend this shop to you.
Tuneups are free for the life of the bike you buy from them. They have been around for over twenty years so I don't think they are going anywhere.
I returned to the shop to buy some pedals and again received good service while they installed them for me. They reminded me to bring the bike back for its first free tuneup as soon as I get some miles on it, and to make it soon as they get busy with tuneups...
Read moreI wouldn't send my worst enemy to this shop. After reading some of the rave reviews on this place. I called them to see about getting a new rear brake handle installed on my 16 speed Huffy. All the person on the phone asked was " Is that a mountain bike?" I said I thought it was a hybrid. He then said he didn't have anything in stock and that was it. Didn't offer to order anything, didn't ask if I wanted to bring the bike in. Nothing. I guess the 30 year old bike that I inherited from my now dead father wasn't good enough for this snooty shop to work on. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. NO ONE deserves to be treated like trash just because their bike doesn't cost thousands of dollars. I may not have a bunch of money, but what I do have is reputation for honesty, a whole bunch of fellow cyclist friends and a BIG mouth that has no problem spreading the truth about this establishment. So, folks, if you're not dripping with dough, give this sad shop a HARD PASS. Apparently they only serve a "select clientele". Judging from some of the other comments I've been reading, this place has a history of total snobbery. I will be taking all my money...
