Why the Power Plant Cafe has Mixed Reviews July 24, 2022
If you want to be treated humanly well, prepare to bite your tongue and keep your mouth shut. Approaching a Power Plant Cafe staff member with a simple and fixable issue will have you looking for a godparent for your baptism of fire.
I came in with my mother around 10am and I was falling in love with the industrial aesthetic and cleanliness. I ordered an iced latte with mocha and hazelnut. Aaysha, one of the baristas, prepared it and it was perfectly balanced with the right sweetness. I ended up ordering another one. Leeah, also one of the baristas, was the one to who prepared my second iced latte. When I received my second iced latte, it was completely different. The color was significantly darker and taste was oddly bitter. I approached the bar and kindly asked, “Excuse me, is this the same drink?” Leeah gave me the ugliest and most threatening stare. She stared at me for a good 4 seconds and eventually broke the silence by saying, “Yeah, I used mocha and hazelnut.” She turned around to the newest hire, who told me with much joy that it was her second day, and started whispering, “...ridiculous...” right in front of my mother and I.
As a former barista, I understand that errors happen. However, the death stare was vile enough to make you tense, on guard, and have you clutching your black tourmaline. Errors like this happen because we are human, but I was not offered another drink or a refund. A simple apology would had been enough for me not to write this review. So, we left and here I am writing this for you, my...
Read moreExcited to try this cute coffee shop as we were staying at the hotel close by. We were met by the barista and she took our orders with a little bit of attitude as I asked a couple questions. The weirdest part was when we paid. She said what the total was, my husband put the card up to the reader and tapped, as we have done a gazillion times before and then the lady just stares at him and he looks at her waiting for her to acknowledge the payment took. It was so painfully awkward. She didn’t say anything like your order will be right up or thank you. Nothing. Finally after like a full 2 minutes of her staring, she says with an attitude , Did you need your receipt? We said no and went and sat down. Strange. My husband had ordered an Americano which is supposed to be espresso diluted with water. She filled up the cup with regular coffee, realized what the order was, dumped out some coffee and added water. Um, excuse me… that is NOT an Americano. I ordered a cappuccino and the size was shockingly small. I’ve never seen a smaller cappuccino in my life and it was double the price my husband paid for his watered down coffee. This coffee shop was a huge disappointment. I will never come back here again. Too bad..its a super cute shop right in the park but the lady who runs it is not nice, not helpful, and doesn’t know a thing about coffee. Very...
Read moreHorrible service. Employees do not seem to care about their jobs. Went in this weekend for breakfast and coffee - it wasn’t that busy but my coffee never came out and people who ordered after me were getting their coffee. When I finally asked about my latte the employee literally said “I don’t know” and then I further explained that it was on the order with the four breakfast sandwiches she then said “well I’m sure it’s coming” and then eventually said “ok, I’ll just make it”.
During all of this, there is a huge leak coming from the ceiling dripping onto one of the tables and the floor. There was no bucket, no sign, nothing to do anything about the water or alert customers that the floor was wet. When we left, we pointed it out to one of the employees and they said “oh yea, we know”.
The funniest part of the visit was when an employee came in with a HUGE bag of Whataburger and left it right on the counter for everyone to see.
All of this to say - the staff are incredibly unprofessional and need...
