I will not be returning to this store, and I'd like to share why. Today, I went for the first time. with my little cousin, who is thirteen years old. A man who I later learned was the owner approached my cousin and was trying to sell her an item that cost $22.00 , and spoke to her the way one might talk to a child of about five, one step up from baby talk but a very condescending and manipulative tone to use with someone who is thirteen years old. She explained politely that neither of us had twenty dollars WITH us at the time.We went to the wall with the beads and stones and were looking at individual things, since we did have a small amount of money with us each and she was lifting up things to look at the prices, which were located on the bottom of the beads we were looking at. The man stood close behind us, watching, waiting for us to attempt to slip something into our pockets although we didn't have any such plans. He spoke up after a few moments and told us that we could not touch anything. "You probably shouldn't touch anything," he said, I looked at my cousin, I thought he was joking at first, and I think she did too, but he persisted. "Don't touch anything," he repeated, adding rudely, "If you don't have any money, which you don't, then you shouldn't touch anything. If you break it, you have no way of paying for it," he finally clarified. I was BAFFLED, I've never felt so insulted. We had every intention of buying something - just something cheaper than the $22.00 item he was trying to force down our throats; however, I was so put off by how unkindly we were treated, I lost any interest in anything we could have find there - even if it had been exactly what we were looking for. We left, having broken nothing, and went to another store to buy the gifts we were looking for and we spent our money in a place where we were treated like human beings with feelings rather than worthless scum on the bottom of a shoe. I do not reccomend going here if you value yourself as a human being and wish to be treated in a way that reflects your value. I think that if the staff here are so concerned with a someone stealing from their store, they should perhaps use the money they make from selling everything for about 10x what its true value is and invest in a security camera like many of the other wonderful stores downtown tecumseh - rather than following innocent people around and going out of their way to make them feel rotten. There things are pretty, but vastly overpriced and not worth the hassle of dealing with how awful you will feel when you step foot out the door. Would give less than one star...
