Just not meant to be. I never felt welcomed, or belonging here. Six months waiting to volunteer, and contribute; and the straw that broke the camels back is when the Sacristan said they couldn’t locate my file showing I’ve completed the SET training. I’ve belonged to Virtus over 20 years beginning in the Chicago Archdiocese. None of which mattered. I’ve served as an usher, lector, Eucharistic minister, Knight, and count team at the Basilica of St Josaphat in Milwaukee; as well as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in K.C. I won’t go into details of negative experiences here. I find it sad that people are not more capable of giving to the community of their time and talents; or be more considerate of others. I do thank the couple who took my seat on Palm Sunday. They’re a ray of hope when they tracked me down to apologize for their actions. They’re at least aware of what’s happening around them. I wish the best for this parish. They have an amazing Pastor and Assistant in Msgnr Peter and Fr John. If you don’t appreciate them,...
Read moreUsed to be a parishioner until I moved. In the past, 9am Mass was very crowded but not anymore. The priest read the whole homily. He had some outdated examples so I figured he just pulled it out of a file cabinet this morning. The only humorous part was when the priest quoted Bishop Fulton Sheen in his homily. I have read a lot of Bishop Sheen's works and one thing that he said always stuck in my head. Bishop Sheen said that if a priest didn't know his message well enough without reading it to the people, how would he expect the congregation get anything out of it. Well said...
Read moreBarb Beringer here. I came into the office & spoke with Stephanie Hacnik about submitting an ad in the bulletin to sell companion cemetery plots at Queen of Heaven & was told they are not allowed to publish personal ads as "then everyone will want to do it." When I told her that St. Bridget's in Mesa where my husband has been in the music ministry for the past few years has published the ad without question, she didn't waiver. I thought that since Joe & I were founding members of Holy Spirit & gave over 35 years to the parish, we would not have a difficult time posting a very small ad. I guess St. Bridget's has more of a ministry to...
