Avasa - Pan Asian Cuisine (Indian, Mediterranean, Thai & Indo-Chinese) — Restaurant in Tempe

We went to Avasa on April 24th, 2025 for lunch. It was a buffet lunch.

1. the ambiance is very nice. Not pretentious and not "fastfood style". The interior is nicely done, and even has a "photo corner". There is outside seating area as well.
2. the bar, even though we did not drink (as it was too early ..yes there is such a thing as too early to drink), was fully stocked and looked quite tempting. Better half would not have bene happy as she would have had to drive back.
3. the buffet. It was quite a spread. Fresh cut fruits curd rice: was tasty and refreshing Onion akoras: crispy, not too oily and great taste Eggplant fried fritters (bhajji): this was ok. Should have been fried more Dal tadka: nothing to write home about, but good Pineapple rasam. Yes pineapple. Even though we couldn't taste the pineapple, the rasam was good Potato/Okra curry; potatoes could be cooked a bit more, and could have more okra. However the gravy was quite tasty Bombay Biryani: this was excellent with just enough spiciness but loads of flavor. Paneer curry: this was also good, with soft paneer. Paneer xoild be a little more fried Fried chicken: this was just ok. A tad dry Tandoori chicken: yellow kind, not red. Was very moist and tasty. Loved it Saah Chicken Curry: this hit the spot with soft well cooked chicken and creamy saag (spinach) gravy Homestyle Chicken Curry: this was ok. Could have used more spices Semiya Payasam: vermicelli pudding. This was excellent! Loved it Fruit custard: This was amazingly tasty and was fantastic for dessert. Soft buttery Naans were served at the table.

Three of us dined. My wife and mother-in-law kept commenting on the nice decor (and I was facing the door, and even the front of the house looks attractive. My MIL doesn't care for very spicy food, so she had the butter chicken, mild. It was scrumptious. I had some kind of Chicken, medium. My wife had a fish dish (and since they don't have an actual menu online, I only wish I could say which two dishes we had.

All came in bowls, steeped in sauce. All were good. My wife's fish was tender, and had layers of chile notes (the first was Tabasco, and then bloomed red chile, then some kind of smoked pepper. So the burn (mild, though) started on the lips and progressed to the palate, then the back of the mouth. Really a great seasoning treat. My chicken had plentiful cumin flavor and red chile. There were red chile peppers in both of our dishes (not my MIL's).

Service was very good, though the authentic Indian accent of our server was a challenge (and I will not even attempt to pronounce, let alone, spell his name). We'll be back. had the pleasure of dining at Avasa Restaurant , and I must say it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food was absolutely phenomenal – each dish packed with authentic flavors that truly reminded me of India.

The service was exceptional, and I was lucky enough to be assisted by an amazing team. Nikhil was very attentive and helped guide us through the menu with great recommendations. Keerthi made sure our table was well taken care of, offering prompt and friendly service. Vishwa was incredibly personable, ensuring that everything was to our liking. Prashanth provided a detailed explanation of some of the dishes, and his knowledge was impressive. Finally, Sheeba’s smile and positive energy made our experience even more enjoyable.
