I came in to have them look at a couple of pieces of jewelry. I was greeted a bit coldly. I will excuse the man however, because he had food in his mouth and was trying to swallow it. I wanted to see if he could tell me if my pieces were real and what they were worth or an estimate of what I could possibly sell them for. He told me that he doesn't give any values on pieces of jewelry and that no jewelers in Texarkana do that anymore, and if I wanted an appraisal he would charge me. He kind of treated me like a dumb kid that possibly stole the stuff. (I am middle aged, dressed in business attire, well-groomed and the stuff is mine). I felt kind of humiliated and just walked out. Lo and behold I went to 2 other stores here in town and not only were they friendly, they took the time to tell me about my pieces and told me what they would pay me, a rough idea of the retail price and approximately how much I could possibly get in a private sale. All I just wanted a ballpark guess. Word to the wise: swallow your food in the back before you "greet" customers, don't tell me something about the other jewelry stores unless you KNOW. Also Texarkana is a small town and watch how you treat people who come through your door. You never know who you're alienating. (the way you treat others is how you're treating yourself). If you want to be a snob,...
Read moreI stopped into Alexander's Jewlers to talk about getting a steel sport model Rolex, which are extremely hard to find. Upon entering, I was immediately welcomed and was introduced to Van Alexander, the owner. Van kindly introduced me to the staff, and family. I was offered a beverage and Van immediately made me feel welcomed and comfortable. He brought me over to the Rolex display, and eloquently explained that he didn't have exactly what I was looking for at this time, but if it comes in, he would call me. He spent 45 mins with me and let me try on display models and explained in detail what makes Rolex so unique. After filling out what I would like, I explained that I needed to get going, and an hour after leaving he personally texted me to let me know he had me down for my desired watches, thanked me for coming in, and it was great to meet me. The service was supurb, comfortable, and Van made it a priority to listen to me and what I wanted. Above all, it was zero pressure and it was about getting to know his customers, which is radically different than I was used to with big chain stores. Going forward, I'll do all of birthday, and anniversary shopping with Alexander's Jewlers. I'll write a review later after my my watch arrives to close the loop, but my initial experience...
Read moreMy husbands family has been going here for generations, and the tradition continues. We work mostly with David directly; Alexander Jewlers is a family owned business where generations from their family and our family have done business together, and we plan to continue that tradition. The quality of work is impeccable, and the customer service is the best in town, you’re truly treated like family. When my husband visited last, the owners came out of the back to greet him and say hello and ask how our family was doing. We won’t go anywhere else in town. We were able to customize my wedding bands and engagement ring with loose diamonds we had, and some we had to buy. David really worked with us to ensure it was everything we wanted, we looked through many books, picked out different styles, and I can honestly say my wedding set is genuinely unique and we were able to create something nobody else has. Whenever I visit, David always cleans my ring for me as a courtesy. Truly amazing craftsmanship that is a one of a kind trade and skill that not every “chain jeweler”...
