While a lot of folks enjoy eating here, I have yet to be impressed. At the entry, you'll find one or two employees who don't listen to things being said to them by customers. All I heard was how the cashier was ready to leave for the evening, but all she heard was something other than what was said to her by her customers.
Then, after paying over $29 for 2 adults' meals and 2 drinks, you can find any number of food items, but none of them are the kinds that find you rushing back for second helpings. And what a shame! I mean, you did buy the all-you-can-eat meal. Too bad they don't call it the all-you-want-to-eat deal. I suppose, given what I can only describe as a lackluster nature of buffet troughs would perhaps be better labeled as the all-you-won't-eat deal.
The black-eyed peas were hard, the fried chicken was bland, the potatoes were lumpy, the roast was chewy, and the rest, while not entirely dissatisfying, is best described as unremarkable. I suppose, that at a "squat and gobble" establishment, this is just par for every course.
On a more satisfactory note, the waiter kept my drink refilled as needed, and he attended to our table quite regularly. He hustled, moving along like he had somewhere to be every time he left. I'd have given him at least 4 stars, even if he did need to turn down his shirt's collar. If only other restaurants' employees so obviously hustled like he did!
Next time, Mom, if you want Golden Corral, I will have to let you dine with...
Read moreNot sure what happened since my last visit but this went from great to worst. I asked one of the people working what am item was & I am shocked this person had the audacity to get an attitude & answer very disrespectfully. She even scoffed. Customer service is obviously not part of this crew. When I tried to ask for a number to call, the completely incompetent cashier fumbled so much you'd think I was speaking a different language. When I asked for the GMs number after waiting & waiting while she fumbled, she asked me who that was. At this point, I dust even know how to respond. She said they didn't have anyone named-&she spelled it-GIEM!!! After this trip, I feared for my sanity since I drank the water.... Won't be stopping at this place ever again when driving through!!! Disgusting food. The baked potato was so old it was brown & had a weird smell. They take the sour cream off the potato bar after breakfast. I was literally told that. The squash was awful. How do you ruin squash of all things? The okra was completely in edible. I walked back 5 times trying to get steak- which somehow never got filled. The yeast rolls had zero flavor. The spinach was 2 very very distinctly different colors. They are so ashamed they are serving Sway Fried Fish that they leave it off the label! I could go on & on but I've wasted enough of my time & money on this place. DO...
Read moreMyself and my family (we were traveling) to Texarkana to meet other family and we decided to go to Golden Corral for breakfast. When we walked in we were greeted and welcomed promptly then escorted to our table. Once seated we each took turns going to each food station getting our food. The food was fresh, hot and tasty.
The hostesses were very quick to ask if we needed anything, cleared our used plates promptly and very attentive to each of us. The food selection was amazing and I only had 1 problem while dining at Golden Corral.
Amongst' all of the tasty deliciousness of breakfast foods what did I see out the corner of my right eye? What do I see but Tacos staring at me....That's right, tacos at 0830 in the morning. Who does this? Golden Corral that's who, and guess what? I LOVE IT!!!!! This made me reevaluate my entire breakfast plate and that in itself was amazing.
This Golden Corral get's 5 stars from me, from my family and I'm sure others. Keep up the great work and I'll definitely be coming back to see you all again on my next trip to Texarkana, TX.
UPDATE 09/03/2022: Golden Corral continues to excel across the board. I've visited this local 4 times since this review. To this locations team, keep up the great work and I'll...
