UPDATE: I forgot to update this at the time and was only reminded when cleaning out my inbox.
Before I start, let me just say that I went to CPR because T-Mobile changed from Asurion to Assurant and this was where I had to go to claim on my phone protection instead of where I used to always go.
A few days after having my phone "repaired", I needed to do some yard work. My phone had gotten some dirt all over it, so I did what you can do to modern phones, something I've done many times over the years with this phone - I gave it a quick wash and rinse.
After my own shower, I headed out to the store. I went to take a picture of something while waiting at a traffic light and noticed the picture came out hazy. I flipped my phone around and there was condensation INSIDE my camera lens glass.
By the time I had gotten to the parking lot, my touch screen was acting very wonky, barely registering touch and flickering. I realized water must have gotten into the phone. Instead of going back to CPR, I took it to where I used to always go: UBreakIFix @1936A Deer Pk Ave, Deer Park, NY 11729.
Matt @ UBreakIFix has kept my phone running in perfect condition over the years (phone and battery replacements). He did an evaluation on my Note 9 and confirmed that WATER DID indeed get into the phone. I was LIVID when he told me why.
CPR HAD REUSED THE OLD EXISTING SEALANT TO CLOSE UP THE PHONE INSTEAD OF USING NEW SEALANT TO WATERPROOF IT PROPERLY.
When resealing a phone, you use new, approved sealant to seal it to the original standard.
Matt showed me how he was able to use his fingernail and separate the phone halves easily. Thankfully, the water did not damage the core of the phone, only the screen. Matt was able to dry it out, order a replacement screen, and fix and seal it properly. My phone is solid, secure, and waterproof again because of him.
I cannot recommend CPR at all. Their shoddy work almost destroyed my phone.
