Veteran’s Memorial Park — Attraction in Town of Bolton

Shirley Russel is one of the most unkind employees I have ever met. She waived everyone in but when my husband and I drove by she asked us to roll down our windows and said the lot was full. As we were turning around another family drove behind us and parked without a stop from Shirley. My husband and I left the park for two hours, drove back, and saw a family was leaving. While we waited, three cars pulled in and circled around. After the spot was freed up Shirley walked to our car and cussed us out telling us to leave because we skipped the people (that came in after us??). We explained everything to her and still she wouldn’t budge saying she has the power to kick out whoever she wants to kick out. She took down our license plate and said she was going to call the cops on us.

When you’re one of the few minorities trying to enjoy a park in a predominantly white area, this no longer makes you feel safe. So we left after being threatened by her.

$5 to park which is fair. The park has basketball for teens as well as the water. They have a nice Sand Beach area with a lifeguard the younger ones and even the little ones or just fine there they enjoy themselves digging holes and things that their age group likes there are tables in the shade for the grown ups to have their bases. Overall a beautiful lake you can see the bottom water's a bit cool however it did not keep anyone out. Great place to sit and watch the world go by if that's what you would...

This is the park with playground and beach. There are bathrooms, lifeguard, picnic tables, community building with crafts and other special events. The beach water is clean, very little sea weed. There is a dock there you can put in small non-motorized water craft or go fishing. Large grassy area for games and a basketball court in the parking lot. $5 parking per car...
