FR Smith & Sons Marina — Attraction in Town of Bolton

This guy charged us twice as much as any other water taxi service would have. They took advantage of us in a bad situation. Being stuck on one of the camping islands with 6 kids because our boat broke down during a thunderstorm and all out of food. 1st of all they didn't make out to get us before the storm and would not wait for it to pass. So we set camp back up. Flagged down a boat for some hot dogs from the camp store. So apparently it wasn't very late when the rain stopped. He told us it was $197 to pick us up. We spoke to him more than once and explained the situation and How many people we had and how many supplies , he said he might have to take two trips. Never once did he say it would be twice as much. The next day after he moved us and our gear then told us it was $197 per trip. (15 min. Ride if that.) When I got home I researched some other companies for transportation and for $150 - $210 You can get dropped off and picked up. This is round trip prices, two trips! These guys totally screwed us. My credit card company said I can't dispute the charges because I signed the bill excepting the service at the time. When i called to discuss the matter with the owner he cut me off before I could finish my first sentence told me to call a lawyer and to go f**k my self.

I have never been screwed so bad. And never will again. I really hope...

Absolutely the worst marina to rent from in the area. Extremely unprofessional, and way over priced. I rented a boat 4 days prior to the date i was going up to bolton and there was an emergency that lead to me to have to cancel. They would not refund me my deposit, ($500) there is NOTHING in their contract stating this...the deposit is for damages if any are made that is to be retuned. I called numerous times to talk with the Manager Scott Anderson and they hung up on me. The woman Sue is over the top rude....she had an unbelievable attitude. I had to take it as far as calling a lawyer....they hung up on them as well. The people behind the counter are nasty, unprofessional, irrational and a disgrace for the town of Bolton. I would NEVER EVER recommend this marina to anyone. I would tell you to go on down to the many others like Chic's or Yankee to name a few...they are sooooo friendly and understanding. Do your self a favor and don't even bother looking towards them for business. I wouldn't even pull in to get gas from them...their prices are over 40% higher than anyone on the lake! Your on vacation....stay away from these...

I recently bought a new 2025 Crest Pontoon boat from FR Smith Marina in Bolton Landing .David Diehl was the sales person . He is totally professional and his knowledge of the product as well as Lake George is second to none . Not only did he patiently walk me through the many choices that I was considering. he helped me with the purchase , the financing and got me enrolled in their Quick Launch program. . I call 24 hours ahead , when I arrive the next day, my boat is at the dock waiting for me. When I return at the end of the day, there's somebody with a smile to help tie up the boat,and they store it until the next time I'm ready to go out again. It's a fabulous program. Dave not only went through a detailed orientation of my new boat, but he also went out on the lake with us and gave advice on how to drive in various different lake conditions to be safe. I would highly recommend buying a boat from David Diehl at FR Smith Marina and putting it in the Quick Launch program It's a first class way to enjoy Lake George without all the hassle.
