The huddle is under new ownership this season and the food is much better than in previous years. However, we HAVE to acknowledge the fact that the pricing is outrageous (and a bit opaque in some cases).
We ordered a burger and a chicken sandwich. The server asked us “chips or fries?” (That’s all was said). The obvious answer? Fries. When the server walked away, we realized that there might be an upcharge for fries, so we looked over the menu and there was NO indication of any sort of upcharge at all (unless you were an adult ordering from the kids menu). Besides, servers typically mention such upcharges when they apply.
We are a cost conscious couple and we specifically chose entrees that were less expensive than average. When the bill came we were SHOCKED that fries incurred a $5 upcharge EACH (that’s $10 on our bill for some fries). That came out to $24 for a chicken sandwich and $24 for a burger (with fries🙄). After tax and suggested 18% tip the bill would have been $60 FOR A BURGER AND A SANDWICH. We simply weren’t prepared to shell out so much money for slightly above average bar food.
I grabbed a menu from the hostess stand just to triple check that we hadn’t made a mistake and the upcharge was mentioned. When we saw that it was NOT listed, we simply left a very small tip (I’ve never done that before in my life).
New owners— if you’re reading this, know that I’m rooting for you as a local. But please be mindful of properly disclosing costs on your menu and training staff to inform customers of any potential extra...
Read moreMe and my family have never felt so humiliated. Worst customer service ever. After a long exciting adventure on a boat we decided to explore Bolton Landing downtown for places to eat. We stumble upon this restaurant and asked if its possible to take 14 guests without reservations. The hostess immediately said that they are understaffed and that they can not take us. We suggested if we can be broken up into groups. Then the hostess said that the guests will be overwhelmed by us being there. I am not entirely sure what she meant the only difference would be is that, I have observed that 99% of the party groups she took in are whites. We’re all asians. Then she followed throught with “None of these restaurants will accept you”. By far the worst, most humiliating statement ever said to me and my family. It was my mom’s 50th birthday and this is the last thing I would ever what to happen. It was so emotionally traumatic that I don’t ever want to step foot in Bolton Landin ever again. Oh and by the way, she accepted 3 parties of 5 and more consecutively as we walked away. I try not to generelize what we’ve encountered but it was straight out humiliating, insulting, and traumatic for me and my family. So if you really want to try them out, maybe dress a little nicer - this way the hostess...
Read moreThe service at the restaurant was awesome. Staff was knowledgable about all items on the menu, and different waiters/waitresses worked together keeping tabs on tables to make sure plates were cleared and drinks were full. The outdoor seating area looked very new and has heaters installed in the ceilings to keep the space warm during chilly nights. The menu was pretty diverse with a good selection, and all of the dishes sounded very tasty. appetizers and meals all came out quickly, but with a catch. The buffalo wings were really good, but the seared tuna, grilled shrimp, salmon, and even the hummus were very poorly cooked and seasoned. The dishes were coated with tons of olive oil, even the hummus had a lot of olive oil on it, and that was strange. A burger we ordered was cooked well done and very dry rather than the requested medium rare, and the side of fries were not seasoned whatsoever.
Overall, the atmosphere was really nice and the staff were great. The food just unfortunately came up very short. The overuse of olive oil, under seasoning, and the overcooking of dishes caused the experience to end on a rather subpar note.
The dinner was really expensive and unfortunately, the value just...
