I went to Mike Crivello's because I thought it to be a reputable business. I went to see them mid January to have a VHS tape copied to a DVD. I was told it would take a few weeks to complete. A month after I dropped off I called to inquire about the tape I was told someone would call me back, no one ever did. I called a week later and was told to call back on Sat. but when I called they told me the person who does the transferring was not in. I asked them if they could have the person call me just to tell me where things are at and not to worry. No call back. Finally a week later I got through to the person who does the transferring he made all kinds of excuses and that he is working on it and would get back to me in a week or so. It is now April 5th and I made the decision to drive to the store and ask for me tape back. They gave me no apologies or reason. This tape means so much to me because it is a tape of my son and his father, a trip they took many years ago. His father has since passed away so it was to be a gift to my son. Please do not reply because their is no excuse to have shown me just a bit of...
Read moreAs I get back into film photography, and order all of the necessary supplies online, I find I ordered the wrong size stainless steel reels and Mike's had two in-stock. Since my teenage kids were so pumped to develop their first rolls of film I took off to the store to buy the reels, knowing they closed at 6 and I had only an hour to make a 45 min. drive. Traffic turned out to be horrible, and I knew I was going to be 1-2 min late, so I called the store and asked if they would do me a solid since I was almost there. I got the most passive aggressive "maybe" I've ever had, but he said I could try. I sure enough pulled in at 6:02 and got an almost aggressive yet gleeful "we're closed" from the two guys at the door and a snarky reminder that the store hours were until 6p.
Fine, that's legit, but given the rare nature of people dedicated to the hobby, and the great opportunity to earn good will, I'm amazed they would just turn away someone begging to give them $. I guess I know why I should continuing my online orders, because if they don't care about my business, I won't care...
Read moreSarah,
You recently did a 16 mm home movie video transfer to a digital file for my daughter. This email is for the staff and especially for you, the person who did the film to video transfer of our little movie.... I want to thank everybody for a job so well done, including the initial telephone calls to get information on your services---Thank you again.
Sarah, I also added back in the original sound track from that 48-old movie you transferred over for my daughter, and posted it on You Tube.....Take a quick look at the first minute or two to see what a nice job you did on the transfer.
You Tube: " 16mm Home movie from the 70s "
I guess the moral of this story is be very careful how you save your precious movies and photos because 50 years from now and into future they may be much more important than they are right now today as seen in this posted You Tube of Resa when she was only about 2 years old.
I myself didn't realize I was making anything so important to us when I shot this Home movie way-way back when.
Thanks Robert...
