Good wireless Internet provider for rural customers. Very good customer service, both friendly and responsive.
I have had Hudson Valley Wireless service for a year and a half and have waited a while to actually write this review. My wife and I have a small farm and needed reliable, high speed Internet at both our house and barns. The distance between the house and barns is about 500'. HVW tailored a system that receives wireless at the highest point of our most distant barn to get the strongest signal from their tower and then through use of relay radios shares that signal with our house. This eliminated the need for two separate Internet access points which saves us money (half the cost of two services) and provides reliable Internet access across much of our property.
Initially we did have reliability problems that was the result of one of the relay transmitter/receivers being defective which HVW rectified pretty quickly.
We do, on occasion, lose service but it usually resolves itself quickly. If not I call customer service and during normal business hours I speak with tech support or off hours I leave a message and service is usually restored quickly.
Overall I think HVW offers a lot for a modest price. I recommend them to people looking for Internet access.

And then we discovered the local Hudson Valley Wireless. It's that mythical gold standard of a company that functions like a mom and pop operation from the 1950's. The techs (notably Robbie* and Damon) call you back, they walk you through your problems and solve them. They're competent, friendly, extremely knowledgable and patient. They also tell the truth. If it's their equipment which is acting up, they don't hide the fact. And their prices are reasonable.
Maybe it's because this company actually started (decades?) ago as a family business, the ethos of transparency and service is strong.

Read moreIf I could give 0 stars I would. I pay for the top service and have been out of wifi for half a month. I have spoken with Matt countless times and have been nothing but nice. I keep getting the workaround and told "we can get someone there the earliest tomorrow". We have been left countless times this past week with no call back or text prior to days end (this is not a 24/7 company as claimed). A guy finally comes and looks at stuff claiming all is okay. Yet wifi is never restored. Looking to get a new service. Would not recommend. Working from home we rely on this and when as a customer we mean nothing it shows. - Also keep in mind I had an upgraded Netgear and was told to purchase an even newer router.
