I grew up a very short walk to the old Barnes and Noble in Hartsdale that was down Central Avenue and closed in 2007. Visiting that B&N as a kid always felt like a treat. As a kid in the 90s, that location was my go-to source for new Goosebumps books. Later adding a cafe, you could end up staying there for hours. It was a tranquil place on a busy street. The area has seen many vacancies since then, and a part of the area just doesn't feel as lively as it once way. Hearing the news that a new Barnes and Noble was coming to Hartsdale was exciting, and in my opinion, a needed addition to the area. Once I heard they opened a few days ago, I headed over with my 5-year-old daughter to see how the new version is. Several months ago, I read an article that B&N was going to try a newer, smaller, more curated-for-the-local-community format, and that this location would be one of them. With this in mind, I was fully expecting what I walked into. The layout of the store and the available selection is purely subjective. There seems to be a lot of inventory, and it seems they've figured out a pretty efficient layout while not feeling too crammed or tight. Other then books, there is a large section dedicated to Vinyl records and 4K Blu Rays, which is good to know as most other major retailers recently announced they would no longer sell physical media discs. There was also a large childrens section, as well as sections for toys, puzzles, gifts, magazines, and more. There was no cafe, but there is a brand new french bakery right next store. The employees seemed nice. Overall, it was a fine experience. I ended up buying a few different items. A welcome addition to the area, and that shopping center seems have really leveled up over the past couple of years.

I'm only visiting this particular location because my daughter is attending a summer program at the College of Westchester. It's pretty cozy inside, only 6 chairs of seating and it's been 2 weeks and their Restroom is not available to the public. I overheard an employee tell a customer that their Restroom is out of order, but I gather it's not open to the public as a paper sign is clearly places over another sign that reads "Employees Only". I'm curious to see if the restroom will ever be fixed and made available to the customers.

Today we were shopping on central avenue and stopped in to this shopping strip to have a coffee at Paris Baguette. Then we walked to this store nearby to look around. First time here. It was well stocked and was quite a large store. Departments for every shopper. Store was well laid out. Lots to see here. We will certainly come again.

The ambiance is different but this is the only Barnes & noble in history to not allow customers to use their bathroom. My five year old had to go so bad and I asked them kindly and they referred me to Paris baguette where only customers are allowed to use the bathroom (so I had to purchase a pastry first) This is the second time this Barnes& noble did this (the first time was two months ago but I didn’t care as much because I was the one who had to use it. But this time it was my daughter who had to go and the employee Carl really had the audacity to deny a child from using the restroom and referred us to Paris Baguette while my daughter is saying in front of him how badly she had to go. Are all new Barnes& nobles no longer allowing customers to use...

For me, there’s nothing quite as magical as entering a new bookstore. This location of B & N was such a delight to visit. I’m sharing a lot of photos; however, there’s still so much more. I enjoyed the time here browsing and selecting which books would come home with us. My favorite genres were beautifully stocked. It has a welcoming set up. Also, the employees were very helpful and kind. They actually seemed to want to help… refreshing. I also appreciated the diversity of the employees and customers on the store. They don’t sell food/beverages and there isn’t a restroom. However, there is an absolutely yummy bakery a couple of doors down. There’s also plenty of parking and there is a bus stop not too...
