Jakari J Salon — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

I have thick longish 4C hair, I came in for a wash and trim. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Jakari and would recommend it to anyone looking for a salon that can handle natural hair. (More detailed feedback below)

Location: Parking wasn't a problem. The shop was clean and staff well organized. I didn't see anyone sitting around for more than 10 mins with wet hair or half-done head.

Customer service was EXCELLENT The receptionist was kind and clear. While shampooing; the woman who washed my hair did a good job of multitasking without me feeling neglected. She was attentive to the temperature of the water and my comfort. I would have liked her to spend more time scrubbing my scalp but that might be a personal preference. All staff were gracious and polite, offering snacks and asking how I was. Even the chairs give a little massage while you shampoo, which I LOVED.

Blow-dry: Kayla was diligent about her work. In some parts of my head I wish she had used smaller sections and perhaps her hands rather than the comb (to be fair, I have very thick hair and prior to today it hadn't been trimmed or properly detangled in more than a year) She got the job done and my trim was quick and easy.

Time and price: about 2 hours, less than $100.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Jakari and would recommend it to anyone looking for a salon that can handle...

Excellent.

Obviously they do amazing hair. But what I liked the most was they have excellent phone skills! And a quick, smooth and honest consultation. They really care about your hair. It’s one of my favorite salons. 😍Customer service is top notch. Very professional and knowledgeable.

Music is nice inside, they even have a little tea/coffee bar.

When you arrive you may be asked to sit in the shampoo chairs while you wait and they are massage chairs! Nice touch!

If I had any critique it would be I wished they opened earlier (yes 7am) so I didn’t have to sit in traffic.

I will definitely tell friends...

Noa is very knowledgeable and a skillful stylist. She has a great personality and I enjoy being serviced by her. On the other hand, I only encountered the owner once for brief moment and she had a bad attitude. I also, referred someone to the salon and they shared the same sentiment of the owner having a bad attitude and being rude without me mentioning it to them prior to their visit. The second hand embarrassment was real. I recommend the owner improves her attitude whether she is having a bad day or not b/c you are in the customer service business, we don't care about none of your...
