Smoothie Roo — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

Upon walking in with my 11 year old daughter, a female employee (or owner) was sitting in the distance and told someone else to take care of us. He came out (maybe an owner as well being that when I complained he told me they’ve been around for 14 years) and didn’t say hello or crack a smile. Both of them were RUDE from the start!!! My daughter ordered an Acai Bowl asking the man if there were nuts in the granola. She doesn’t like the nuts, but isn’t allergic. He didn’t know if there were nuts in it but never once said he will check. I asked if we can take a look at a sample of the granola to peek for nuts and so he sends the woman over with the whole box. She lets me read the ingredients. I proceeded to ask her as I asked him initially just to take a peek at a sample and she rolled her eyes at me. My daughter even noticed so I said something to her. The man said “We are just trying to accommodate you.” I said, “If that’s the case you or her would have shown us the actual granola being that you weren’t 100% sure if it contains nuts.” I said, “I understand that they put on boxes that it’s made in a factory with tree nuts but that doesn’t mean there are actual chunks of nuts in it.” He said, “Well maybe this isn’t the place for you.” I told him, “Clearly not since I don’t frequent places with rude owners, managers and/or workers and I won’t be returning.” I told him I will be writing this review. The place was a disappointment. I want a smoothie cause I want something healthy. If I wanted a sugary thick drink I would get a milk shake. I ordered the green drink they have expecting it to be a healthy green smoothie with protein etc but after tasting it I could immediately tell it was made with processed ingredients like the Kiwi Juice. It’s my own fault for not asking but the “Kiwi Juice” is just some syrupy crap it’s not a fresh juice or natural product at all. Super disappointing I have been very good about what I put into my body latley and I feel very deceived by the menu description versus what I got. Was not natural fresh ingredients and was not healthy by any means. Totaly duped me, it was a sugary concoction.. for sure won’t ever go to a Smoothie Roo again. I’ve been coming to Smoothie Roo for a few years now. They are my go to, afternoon pick me up to get me through my evening shifts at work. I religiously order the Berry Swirl smoothie because it is ✨perfection in a cup✨. Not only is my smoothie always delicious, but the owners and staff are THE FRIENDLIEST and most attentive people. It’s not uncommon for me to pull up into a parking space out front and upon entering the store front, my smoothie is already made and waiting for me with a smile.
