Changing my review to reflect my most recent experience. I've always had nothing but amazing things to say about this places food, and the prices are high but it always came with the best quality, homemade grub. But last Friday was not what I'm used to.
First off, they did away with the chips and homemade dip app. It's still on the menu but if you order it they give you their homemade spinach/artichoke dip. We (me and my wife) primarily come there because we love those homemade dips and I've even bought them for my home several times. But even though "dips" was on the menu I was told they no longer have it. We were a bit thrown off but we like spinach dip too so we settled for that no problem. Chips were still the same homemade potato chips so we were happy there but just sad about them not carry thing the multiple dips anymore because they were outstanding. Secondly, we were thrown off by the quality of our entrees: the sexy mexy chicken tacos and the chicken bacon ranch tidbits. I'd even say we were offended because of what we got compared to what they're charging. The tacos stated "cajun" but they had NO spice on them whatsoever. Just plain grilled chicken. The tidbits looked like something applebees or any bodega or low-quality diner would serve. Breaded chicken tenders, a slice of bacon on top, and then what looked like a melted pre-packaged slice of American cheese with some ranch on top. I could easily tell the cheese was just one of those plastic wrapped "singles" because when it goes to melt it keeps it's form, i can't be fooled on that. Overall the tidbits were extremely low-efforted. The bread wasnt even toasted and it was a bit hard. So they probably just opened up a hoagie, placed the toppings on it and threw it in the microwave for a minute just for the cheese to melt - a five-minute meal i could do myself.
We spent over $100 on food that we weren't satisfied with and if we wanted to settle for mid-quality we could've gone somewhere cheaper. I hope they don't keep this up or I'll never be back here, which sucks because this was one of my favorite...
Read moreThe atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and warm. It is a bar type restaurant so the back half is the bar with the front being the restaurant portion. The staff were all really nice and very helpful. Overall atmosphere and customer service get a 9.3/10 from me.
Starting with the appetizers, we got an order of the barbecue wings ($19.64). The wings were crispy and tender with a really strong barbecue flavor as they use a lot of sauce. If you really enjoy barbecue flavored things, you’ll really enjoy these wings. Personally they were still good but the barbecue was a little overwhelming. Next time I will probably go for the buffalo wings. These wings received a 7/10 from me.
The Oaxacan Nachos ($22.74) were really good and the portion size was very generous. Perfect if you’re out with a group of friends to share before the entrees. The nachos had really good cheese and the chicken was very flavorful. Along with the flavors the tortilla chips were multicolored so it was visually pleasing as well. The nachos receive a 9/10 from me.
For the entree I had the Cajun Penne Alfredo Pasta with chicken ($24.81). The pasta was perfectly al dente and the Alfredo sauce was very flavorful. The chicken was a bit on the dry side but the sauce was able to make up for it. The pasta was very flavorful and I would definitely get it again. The pasta gets a...
Read moreHad a very good brunch here! Their menu looks very solid and dependable. The meals are reasonably priced for hearty, complete and tasty dishes.
I particularly had the avocado toast and it was flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised because I thought it was going to be your basic avocado toast. However, the sourdough bread was scrumptiously flavorful, and its slight acidity really balanced out the avocado spread, which was also complimented by the pickled onions. I think some some chili flakes and sweet cherry tomatoes would’ve sealed the deal for me!
And the dessert: We got banana bread foster, which, again, just such a solid dish! Can feed 2-4 people with the size of the banana bread. Although I’m not an overly sweet-tooth, I thought the toasted parts of the banana bread were such teases on the palette. My company, a complete sweet-tooth, very much enjoyed the dessert and was completely content and in sugar heaven by the end of it.
To conclude, their service was also great, timely, and efficient. The place is a gastropub, so it’s got a fusion of a restaurant, pub and bar, which I didn’t know until coming here and looking up this place. Overall, it’s good place for your classic brunches with good serving-size...
