I hate to write a negative review but this company just rings out for it. First, my wife went to Home Depot in College Point a few weeks ago with my daughter to get an idea of a price for carpeting my daughter's room. The salesperson insisted on getting my wife's information, even though my wife objected but was reassured that it is just for information and she will not be contacted. Even then, the cost information was vague. About 10 days later, about 9am she received a call from someone stating he will be at our home to measure the room later in the morning. My wife explained she never placed an order and he eventually said ok. About 3 hours later my wife receives another call from the same person stating he is at the house. Needless to say, even if we placed an order, we would not want someone that incompetent measuring the room. Move on to today. I thought I would try a different Home Depot (Valley Stream), since we are getting closer to a decision, just to solidify the price. I waited 20 minutes, even asking for help and no salesperson showed. I left to do other errands and returned about 30 minutes later. I sat right by the carpet area desk for 30 minutes. Not one person asked if I needed help. A couple of weeks ago I went to Lowes to get a comparison of price. Every few minutes I was asked if I needed help if I wasn't talking with a salesperson. The cost might be a little more at Lowes,(not even sure about that) but since the service is so much better, I expect the installation will also reflect that difference. I am in Home Depot frequently, and I always have to search for someone to help. They should either hire more people or train them better . ...
Read morepurchased 5 sets of windows online because I didn't want to go to the store in person to deal with the employees of that store based on past experiences. It ended up being the wrong windows and I had to return them, the young lady at the return counter named Ashley, I must admit was really pleasant and helpful, and that's really hard to find in that particular Home Depot. She even suggested, I order the windows in store instead of online, where an associate would assist me in purchasing the correct windows, she was kind enough to walk me over to a gentleman sitting at a desk, whom I assumed would help me with my purchase, don't remember his name, but it sounded like Mac was a part of it. I have never encountered such rudeness coming from an employee at an establishment before. He didn't even look up when another young lady was asking him to assist me, he rudely asked me a question, without even looking at me, and when I hesitated a while to give him the correct answer, he abruptly said and I quote " oh, so you not gonna answer me? okay!' and continued with whatever he was doing on the computer. This is not how people should be treated when they are spending their hard earned money. And no reputable place of business should have people like this handling their business. I left and went to another smaller store where I was treated like a human being, and placed the order for my windows totaling $1,500, without feeling like I was being a bother to anyone. The only reason I shop at this Home Depot is because it's close to my home, but it pains my heart every time I have to walk through...
Read moreI went to the Valleystream Home Depot to return a car battery charger/jumpstart that I bought at a Queenâs location last month. The box was damaged when I bought it and the product did not work as it did not hold a charge. I didnât have a chance to get to a Home Depot until last weekend And was greeted by Patricia at customer service. As I put the product down she asked me what was wrong with it and I told her it didnât work and she said we cannot accept a product like this from another Home Depot location. She also asked me why I waited so long to return the product. Mind you the receipt says I have 365 days. She then proceeded to say we cannot accept they used product , I kindly advised her that the product did not work when I bought it. She also asked me why I left the store with the box in that condition. Not understanding all the questions when Iâm trying to return a product to Home Depot that does not work. She then proceeded to call her manager to get approval to return the product who is just as useless as she was. He was helping out another customer while answering her phone call and did not help one bit. She ended up returning the product anyway, and still gave me a hard time saying that she shouldnât be accepting the product Because of how long ago I bought it and I bought it at a Different location. The fact that she had the nerve to ask what took me so long to return the product. If it didnât work was mind blowing she should definitely be retrained on her...
