On 06/26/2025, after discussing cellphones with Verizon and a call in to Geek Squad about my broken computer, I was informed the Valley Stream store was within my area. So, I walked in with my teenage daughter to physically check out the cellphones discussed and explore current PC and laptop models to figure out what might be a good fit for purchase. I had 99 questions and let the.young man know my user needs and the needs of my household. I didn't get his name, and now I wish I would have because I'd like the store to know how outstanding he was. He was very patient and super attentive to each question I asked him. There was a gal that helped me with some of the All in One models at the back wall before I transitioned over to the Apple computer area. He was professional and very knowledgeable answering questions I had about each item we discussed. He didn't make me feel stupid with my questions that I was comfortable to ask him about the gaming devices as well. The conversation was lengthy yet he never made me feel stupid at any point because he mentioned current operating systems and user software manufacturer installed that I hadn't heard of yet. At some point of the conversation I noticed an older female employee who mounted a stair platform and simply stood there for a while. I felt her eyes down on us so I looked up curiously, and I don't know why, but she stood there vigilant. It was noticeable for not only me by my 13 year old daughter also took notice. The stair ramp led up to the ceiling, not to a shelf. It was kinda obvious we were being monitored and she was trying to play it off. Someone should look into the stores surveillance and ask her why she was watching us. I've never stolen from stores and I never will. Something about me asking questions made her feel the need to supervise on a stair as I tried to get product information because I'm not such a savvy tech user anymore like I once was while younger. I needed something user friendly and durable. I specifically told the sales man I have a teenage son that breaks things because he's on the spectrum. While the male member made me feel comfortable to ask questions and look into various options, she made me feel uncomfortable because she was monitoring me because I looked at and explored some of the devices. I took photos of the models and their specs because I'm undecided. I know when I return, I'd like the young man to be the one who processes my computer to get credit for it and game purchases because he took the most time with me.
Whomever the middle aged female employee was the mounted the stair tool to watch us should be addressed about profiling people. Whatever assumptions she had were completely false. This time she got it totally wrong. Nothing about me, my clothes, or my behavior hollered thief. The only thing I took from the store when leaving were the photos of the products with their corresponding specs to ponder over for when I make my return to actually make the purchase.
I'm the middle aged lady with the beige hat, cheetah print top, and long black maxi skirt that left the store just before 7pm. I don't remember what time my daughter and I arrived. Please pull the surveillance footage to see us as we explored the technology. Ask her why she profiled me for pulling a sales associate to show me things, answering questions, and for trying to find out about the current products in the market. Yes I touched the devices and clicked buttons and tapped screens to interact with the user interface. That's why they are on display. It is for me to get familiar with them.
My 5 star rating is because of the first female worker to help me at the back wall with the Dell and HP pcs and for the young man who helped me over by...
Read moreWent in on 7/7 with my brother in law who wanted to buy a tv ( Samsung 75in). Wasted 1 hr for salesperson to find out if it was in the warehouse stock as it said there was only one in the computer system. Got tired of wasting time - my brother in law opted to get a 75in Sony instead. Then another 30min to an Hour to bring that up.
During the purchase a ripped sticker was noted on the box. It Indicated that it was a previous pickup order apparently placed back in May. Asked salesperson who adamantly vouched it was never picked up. Took it home, opened it and guess what - it was USED - fingerprints all over , scratch on the bottom left , small dent on frame and batteries were in the remote already.
Took it back the following morning 7/8. Spoke to customer service rep and told him we need a manager. Explained it to the available next higher up âmanagerâ Patrick. Patrick failed to offer an apology (as any respectable company representative would do for a purchasing customer) and explain how this could have happened ( employees in the back probably played with it and reboxed it is my guess). He had a brash attitude. So much for professionalism. He just told his customer service guy âexchange itâ. Patrick failed to maintain a professional demeanor. He spoke to his manager who offered to drop the TV from $1499 to $1200. Obviously they wanted this garbage off their hands.
We spoke to the second in charge manager of the store as the store GM was not on site. Asked her if instead of dropping as open box that we do an exchange for an actual new one and she give a BB gift card in the amount of the the difference for open box. She said she doesnât have authority to do that. Go figure. She then âofferedâ upto $300 worth of âdiscountsâ but then failed to actually provide on them. She did try to reach the GM thru cell phone and text ( per her side of the solution - not sure if it really happened).
At his point we just returned he used TV and left after she âpromisedâ my brother in law that sheâll get back in touch with him once she hears back from the GM. No word as of yet - no surprise.
Overall- a very horrible customer service experience. Buyer be ware - my advice : if you buy anything over 50â to take home from the store - check it before you leave. And donât expect much professionalism- youâll be better off with lower expectations if you do wind up wasting time.
Would be nice to give it half star if possible. Thanks for...
Read moreHello i hope a bestbuy corp or higher up sees this message. I just want to say that i have been through hell with my local bestbuy for a mistake that they didnât want to own up too. I went in on October 3rd 2024 to purchase parts to build a new gaming pc and got home to build it and as soon as i opened up the graphics card that was a 4070 super i saw it was the wrong gpu so i said to myself no biggie ill just go back and be an honest person and let them know so i can exchange it for the proper one but no i had the worst experience being an honest customer so the manager said they would have to investigate and that i would have a definite answer by the next day, so i asked why if that is not my fault the employee who previously took the card back didnât do his or her job properly and check that everything was correct in the box. I asked to run a sku check if the graphics card had previously been returned and he said yes! So i asked why an open box item was put back and sold as a new item without even checking it properly and he said thats why they would have to investigate the situation witch i donât understand how that involves me. Long story short i came back the next day because i never received a call or anything and i spoke to another manager named mike that day and he told me they are not liable for theyre mistake that the policy states they cant take back an item that is not the original item and to call the 1800 number,so pretty much i ended up being stuck with the wrong item and thats it no help. I called customer support and they told me to go back in the store and that i should be able to exchange it so i did and spoke to another manager named mark i think and he pretty much told me that his boss already said no that my only shot at possibly getting my return or exchange is by getting a lawyer! I am beyond disappointed how i was treated for a mistake i did not make it is ridiculous how i was treated and hope bestbuy corp makes an investigation on this store and managers for acting the...
