Absolutely horrid experience purchasing a table and six chairs. It started with the fact that the salesman and manager advised me that the store card was not a credit card. It is a credit card. Nevertheless, there is more. We took delivery of the table and chairs on March 21, 2020. The table was incorrect, even though we told the salesman several times we wanted the round table. It was frustrating because we needed to take off of work to accept delivery because delivery was not available on weekends. Still, the delivery people were kind and took the table back without issue. We kept the chairs because those were correct. I called customer service and they informed me that I would not have to pay for the purchase until delivery was complete. That is, the correct table was received. Unfortunately, because it was special order we needed to call back in June, due to Covid. Understood. We call back and find out that the table will not be deliverable until July. Very frustrating but fine. I asked when delivery could be? Shockingly, we were told that delivery could be had on Saturday. Thursday of last week, to my surprise, I receive a bill from Raymour & Flanigan for the purchase of the chairs. I call customer service on Monday and they directed me to the Valley Stream store and to speak with my salesperson. He was not available until Tuesday. Fine, I called back Tuesday and was told by him that there was no record of the conversation regarding paying for the purchase only after receipt of the complete order was received. I needed to pay for the chairs and there was nothing to be done. Additionally, that I needed to call TD Bank to resolve any issues with the bill and that there was nothing they could do. Needless to say over the last two (2) days I have spent over three (3) hours on the phone. I finally was able to reach TD, only after calling their primary customer number and being provided a completely different number than the one on the bill, to pay this in full. It was supposed to be financed over 12 months without interest. No where on the bill is that an option. At this point, delivery of the table is July 11, 2020. Once received, needless to say, I will be paying for this in full. This entire experience started with a characterization. It is a credit card for all intents and purposes subject to a 29.99% APR. Secondly, on the day of the original delivery, come to find out, lied to about paying for the order only after delivery is complete, without record. Read moreI purchased a dining table set with chairs and a bedroom set, and it has been a nightmare. The day they delivered it, there was a big scratch on the headboard and the delivery guys way of fixing it was spraying some sort of laminate or paint on it to fix it, which slightly covered the obvious scratch but it is still visible. On the dresser they delivered, from the same moment they delivered, the laminate was not glued correctly and it was hanging off. He said the furniture was fine like that and did nothing to fix it. The bedroom set makes a lot of noise because the box frame is metallic and causes it to make a lot of scratching metal noise when we get in bed. The dining table had a hole on it and they took a metallic spray and painted over the hole but you can clearly see there was a hole there. Finally they said they had to come back the next day to bring us a new table which they never showed up. I called back to complain and they said they would reach out and come back within 2 days. We called out for the day and they never showed up to deliver, when we called to ask about it they said they accidentally had the wrong address even tho they delivered correctly the first time. Finally 2 weeks ago I went back to the location to complain and the manager only recommended to make yet another appointment, which we did. On the day they were supposed to deliver the new part, they showed up with table legs which I never requested or had issues with. It was the base of the table that had a hole and needed to be replaced. The first time I had the delivery, I tipped the drivers $60 for their time, but every time they reschedule another delivery the emails keep pushing for more tip, even when they don’t get the job done correctly. 6/25/2021: I’d like to update my review as other customers need to be informed accordingly.
I purchased two pieces of furniture (a sofa and a 1/2 chair) for my living room. The furniture is beautiful. However, after it was brought into my home, it took up the majority of the space in my room.
I called back on 6/22 (date of delivery) and explained my situation to the sales representative. I was told to call back the next day as “there was no manager in the store”.
I called the next day and spoke with the sales representative who assisted with my purchase. The sales representative then passed me off to his manager, who explained once the furniture is delivered, they cannot take it back, the sale is final. I explained that I am willing to cover the cost for them to send back the delivery truck and take the furniture back and I will exchange or purchase other furniture suitable for the size in my Livingroom. The manager’s response was that he would speak with his superiors and call me back in a few days with a response.
6/25: I followed up and was told the sales representative had a response for me but was on his lunch break (2 hours prior to store closing) and would be back in an hour. I never heard back from them so had to call back again. To then learn there was a note in the system stating that nothing further can be done.
I didn’t need to be told false stories or beat around the bush. A straight answer would have been understood.
I’ve always been a fan of this store, but transactions like this will leave a sour taste in my mouth going forward.
Please don’t let this happen to you or your family. It’s not the greatest feeling to be stuck with a piece of furniture that does not fit in your livingroom.
From one customer to another. Learn from my mistake. Keep this experience in mind when purchasing furniture.
