My family and I dined in on 4/06/2025 around 8-9pm ish My dad recommended this place even after he had an incident where he had a hair in his food in his boil from a previous visit. We decided to give this place another try I had never been here to eat. First the server JERRY was horrible. He barely spoke English and he was not informative about the menu and how the boils worked. Which further caused confusion on what we ordered. Secondly he charged us for pink lemonade without even telling us that it's an upcharge but used strawberry as an additional charge. He stated that they have to make the pink lemonade that way… well that's not something we would know considering it's my first time dining here. He also only came to our table 2 times did not check on us and my boil was cold! Once he presented the ticket we started to discus the up charge for the juice with was labeled as strawberry he did not explain very well why the charge was there he also attempted to charge me for extra sauce that I never asked for but he did have that charged removed. After leaving later on my son became sick. Throwing up and diarrhea. We had just drove in from Virginia 6 hours trip and that was his first meal! I was highly upset. My son's order was the crab cluster and added shrimp with no head. I don't know what yall are doing there but that shrimp was bad! My son was sick the whole trip after eating at your establishment. I came up there the next day! And spoke with a manger by the name of SKLYER he said that there was no corporate number and he does not know it and has NO INFORMATION at all. He said I have to do is send an email. I told him about my sons condition and said well that's not our fault because if it's other people that are sick then maybe it's a issue but since it's just one person we don't know. Like are you out of your mind! The insensitive response from your manager was appalling! I didn't even ask for any money back or nothing I came up there to genuinely complain about my son being sick! And he had the nerve to say it's nothing I can do since it happened last night and he asked me why didn't I bring him back up there, why would I bring a child back up there sick and throwing up in a restaurant to prove he was sick. We got to hotel around 11 ish and I was not bringing him back there but I did come back up there the VERY NEXT day. I still tipped the server exam after the confusion around the bill. I would like to speak to corporate management or someone regarding food safety because this is clearly outrageous. YOUR MANAGER WAS OF NO HELP NOT EVEN a single apology he was more concerned with the people sitting at the bar making loud noises as I was talking to him about my complaint! Unprofessional and I will be also writing a review and placing this on All social media platforms management was horrible at resolving or even attempting to...
Read moreI happen to be taken to this restaurant for my birthday, the restaurant was nice, a little loud at times due to customers at the bar but I guess they were just enjoying themselves. In my opinion, the appetizers (coconut shrimps for example) were not good, neither were the shrimp chips which are put on all tables. We had a few hiccups waiting for our food; however, once the manager was made aware of the problem, he went above and beyond to get our food to us and actually took some items off of our check. He was vigilant and professional, I truly appreciated his effective efforts. Once we got our main courses ( I had the seafood triple boil, lobster, shrimp, mussels, crab legs, with potatoes and corn) the food was delicious. My only complaint in that department is that I had only one small potatoes and one piece of corn with all that seafood. I will say, the bar leaves a lot to be desired, there was only one bartender that I observed and it was during happy hour. Not only was she overwhelmed serving the patrons at the bar but also with providing drinks for the diners. She was not always being diligent with making the drinks and there was no consistently with making the drinks, my first rum punch had a cherry and piece of pineapple, the second had neither, there were margaritas ordered, some came with salt rimmed glasses, some without, some stronger than others as if there was no system to making the drinks. Overall, I enjoyed the experience, I appreciate the attitude of the manager ( an oriental gentleman) our waitress was well informed, helpful, and professional. The busboy had a stink attitude, I didn't care for his presence but besides these things, I would recommend Hook and Reel to seafood lovers. ( One thing I really really liked was that there was no sausage in my seafood boil, some people like myself are non meat eaters) So roll out to Green acres and check out this spot, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Hope they replace those bland shrimp chips with something delicious to match the main...
Read moreI’ve tried a handful of hook and reels in jersey, Staten Island, etc. this is the one i decided would be my go to. My fiancé and sun stopped by on Sunday and ended up with a $250 bill. The amount wasn’t the issue. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, 2 drinks, and 2 boil bags specials. The boil bags were insanely salty to the point we couldn’t eat it. I left about 1-2 clusters in the bag. I originally opted out of the lobster tail. (Still okay - I didn’t ask for any accommodation to make up for removing 2 lobster tails from the order.) the service was not the best, it’s usually hit or miss which I’m used to when we go so we just tip accordingly. We are great tippers. I decided to say something when I usually never do, and definitely not there since they’ve been my go to and he offered to reseason the boil bags……. I said no it was ok as it was already too salty. I wasn’t sure how they could fix it. He asked if we wanted to take it home I said no. We basically paid for 2 boil bags and only ate 1 between both of us. He didn’t offer any accommodation or to make anything complimentary. I allowed him to walk away without offering anything. My fiancé asked him to comp a drink and he did. Not what I was expecting as a repeat customer. Haven’t decided if I’m...
