If it was half the price, I'd give Dino Roar Valley more stars.
I bought my tickets online (saved a few bucks a person) though it was still $70 for two adults and a 4 year old. Aside from saving a few dollars, there was no benefit to buying online. We still had to stand in a long, slow moving line to get bracelets to get into the park.
The dinosaurs are actually pretty cool, but there needs to be a lot more of them, or some other things to do there to justify the cost. My kid loves dinosaurs and so we walked through twice, sat through the show (more on that in a minute) and she dug in the sand for like, 45 minutes - we were there for 2 hours total.
The sand in the fossil dig was extremely dusty. It left a gross film on hands and clothes and with kids digging haphazardly, there were large clouds of dust all the time. There weren't actually enough digging tools and brushes for the number of kids there and some of the ones they had were broken. It wasn't even very crowded. For the price of admission, it would be nice if they could maintain that area better.
The show at Roary's Stage was HORRIBLE!! They had an opportunity to actually teach about dinosaurs, and they did not. They talked a little about the Titanosaurus, though a segment of that was fart jokes. A lot of the show was bad jokes in poorly put on fake accents. A guy in a Velociraptor suit came out and they talked about raptors a bit -- though that wasn't even factual, stating the raptor was 8 ft tall. Ok, the guy in the suit was, but according to the sign at the animatronic velociraptors, they were about the size of a turkey. I wasn't sure if I wanted an asteroid to fall on me or the hosts.
The website clearly states NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINK. This is tough for us as we're vegan and we have a young child, so not being allowed to bring food for her when I was fairly sure we wouldn't find things she could eat there is a bad combo. I brought in her water bottle and a granola bar and hoped no one would confiscate them. I was right about there being nothing she could eat there. They barely had any food at all. Hamburgers, Hot dogs, and chips, that's it! Also, EVERYONE had food and drinks there and no one said anything so I just felt foolish being the person who followed directions. The benefit of it being not a long day's entertainment is we left around lunch time and she ate her packed lunch in the car on...
Read moreThis was the first time we went into this park. We took our 15 month old grandson with us. We all had a wonderful time. He actually did well around those life-size animatronics, which I thought were totally amazing. But I’m not sure it is for everyone’s child. Especially if they are the type that are afraid of animals or even people dressed in costuming. He is generally very tolerant. Even the walk around the forest where they were located was absolutely beautiful. My family and I were Absolutely delighted With the nostalgic rides in reading about where they came from. I actually became emotional to see that two Of the rides were from an amusement park in Scranton, Pennsylvania. It was like reliving my childhood. Just FYI, it is spelled Nay Aug Park. What a trip through memory Lane. If we make it back to Lake George, we will come back again. It’s a great place for young children to enjoy. The only drawbacks were the fact that the train ride is not running around the park. I was told by someone in the office that it would cost them too much to fix the track. The price of the admission ticket was significant, so I’m not sure why that’s an issue. The other issue was that they don’t have enough ride attendants. They would assign one person To run four rides So you would have to wait for the attendant to share his or her time between them. I’m sure there are a lot of college age students that would love to have that job. Hire more people. Overall, thank you for a...
Read moreI love dinosaurs, so going here was a must (I'm one of the idiots who, if Jurassic Park ever actually happened, would visit and more than likely get eaten but I'd be Gaga over the dinos so totally worth it lol). It's amazing here. They have info on the dinos they have. It's not a bad hike, so even someone out of shape like me or little kids can make it all the way around--there are benches placed throughout the park so you can take breaks. Staff are friendly, one even offered to get a ride for me and my sister up the last hill, so no worries about not being able to make it all the way around. There aren't any rides per say (other than a safari ride--but you just ride through the park on that, I mean like merry-go-rounds and etc) but you can totally stand next to the dinos and take pics! I can't speak for the activities for little kids, it was me and my sister who are 2 adults. Definitely worth it!...
