I'm a long time La-Z-Boy customer. I paid nearly $10k for two couches in Feb 2020 and also purchased their protection plan. Both couches were delivered in April 2020. Weeks after delivery, one of the couches became discolored and pilled. I called customer service and was told to "shave" it with a fabric shaver and that it was normal for this to happen. I told them I would not "shave" a new couch and that they needed to replace it. After hours on the phone and months of back and forth, they agreed to replace it, but wanted me to pay more money because the price of the couch increased. I politely informed them that I would not pay a cent more than I originally paid. After multiple calls and multiple more weeks, they agreed to replace it for the same price, but would not relent on a $200 fee to re-deliver the couch. The manager got extremely condescending and told me "you must not understand the furniture business" when I told him that I was not going to pay a second fee for delivery. Their explanation was that thy pay a separate company to deliver it.
I would have gladly paid the second fee if it was due to something that I had done, but they delivered a couch that was deemed defective. Long story short, they would not do anything unless I paid $200 to re-deliver.
They came to re-deliver today and initially would not take the old one back. I had to call the store, the manager was "unavailable" and they referred me to the Farmingdale store. The nice woman there ultimately made 3-4 calls and got them to take it back.
Long story short, they have the worst customer service of anyone I've ever dealt with, and their store manager is extremely unprofessional. I will never buy another piece of furniture from them. They've lost a long time customer over a silly $200 delivery fee. I hope the extra $200 was worth it for them. I would give zero stars if it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy girl and I had a great time with Howard today looking at all the options in the store. I had no idea how many types of chairs they sold, it has been a long time since furniture shopping.
When you go plan to spend some time. They are very customizable, and you want to take time in each chair to find the unique one for you. At first you may have an impression they are all similar and while it may look like there are a lot of options, they are all pretty much the same. That is why you should take you time actually trying each one out. The second chair we tried we loved but we thought it was because of the tempur-pedic cushions. We almost went with it then we were reminded we could get that cushion with any chair. We looked around again, taking more time to try to find a better chair, and we didn't, the first one we picked was the one we ultimately decided on. However we learned the actual design of each chair is almost as important as the materials you select. You can sit in two very similar chairs and have two totally different impressions. Take your time
Howard was very informative and entertaining, he clearly enjoyed working with customers. He does and amazing job making you feel comfortable and truly taking your needs and desires into consideration. He is an example of what customer service used to be before everything turned into a numbers game. I wish companies understood this level of service helps create brand loyalty and trust which is dwindling quickly.
The only thing I wish was different was a USB super fast charger in the charging pads and USB ports of the chairs. Perhaps an upgradeable module so the chairs can keep up with the newer power draws from phones and tablets as they come out.
Looking forward to the chair! Going to enjoy it...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf they would have just allowed my husband and I to have a natural browsing experience, we were so looking forward to buying a chair. We hadnāt hardly even stepped into the store from the pouring rain before an older gentleman asked if we needed help. We made it clear that we just wanted to enjoy each others company, walking around and toy with different ideas for our home. Side note: Because of our busy home life we donāt get much quality time and really just wanted to be left alone to test different chairs and enjoy each others company. Something we donāt get to do often. We had been looking forward to coming to la-z-boy for quite a while to find a recliner.
But before I could even TOUCH a single chair, the salesman was all over us. Wouldnāt leave us alone for a second. Asking us to sit in the chair, pulling out contracts, telling my husband that the wife gets to make all the decisions⦠it was overwhelming and extremely uncomfortable. My husband and I are pretty well put together people but we were treated as if we were just going to ransack the store and steal a chair (Iām 9 months pregnant). We were so excited to buy a chair for our nursery and if the salesman would have just respected our boundaries, we probably would have. But because of how intrusive and overbearing he was, we decided to go with a different company completely.
Not to mention, the āamazing quoteā he had to get approved by his manager because we just āseemed like really great peopleā so he just wanted to do us a ākindnessāā¦. Was $300 OVER the price of the same chair on the la-z-boy website.
I understand this is a commission based business but my goshā¦...
