I've been a frequent visitor to various Goodwill locations around the Hudson Valley for years, but I've noticed some concerning changes at the Middletown store in 2024. Over the past nine months, I've seen a significant shift in both pricing and customer service that I believe the management should address.
For example, essential items like mason jars are now being priced individually at $2.50 or even $3, which is higher than what they cost new. While the clothing selection has increased, the prices have also skyrocketed compared to previous years. In 2023 and earlier, coats or dresses rarely exceeded $40, and even genuine vintage fur coats were around $50 or less. However, today I noticed a worn leather coat with noticeable tears and a need for repair priced unreasonably high.
When I tried to discuss this with the manager, I was met with a dismissive attitude, which was disappointing. I understand that prices fluctuate, but this location seems to have lost touch with Goodwillās mission of providing affordable second-hand goods.
I want to stress that this issue seems specific to the Middletown location. Iāve had better experiences in terms of both pricing and customer service at other nearby Goodwill stores, such as those in Wappingers Falls and New Windsor. I hope the management here takes this feedback seriously and reconsiders their pricing strategy and approach to customer service, as itās becoming harder for the community to find...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreManager refused access to restroom for disabled woman with a chronic medical condition. Corporate will be notified and I will make them all famous. Strap in. Happy Good Friday. An organization started by two clergymen hires inhumane people like the manager at this store. We will NOT let this go. No matter how many store employees and their friends leave fake reviews today, at the exact same time. Two with same last name. Most their very first review. How coincidental. Seems really legit. Take note of the reviews. These are people who FULLY AGREE WITH AND SUPPORT treating disabled people inhumanly. Hopefully not employees. Itās a really bad look. Iāll be forwarding the names to corporate and if employees will be listed in the ADA complaint. Make no mistake. Iāll have peoples jobs over this. I have absolutely zero conscious when it comes to this. Write my name down. Remember it. Iāll see you all...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAs a partially disabled woman who cares for both my disabled parents I find it disgraceful, deplorable, and disgusting behavior to not allow one of your disabled customers to use your restroom. The rudeness and insensitivity displayed by this stores staff is atrocious. "Ally's Law" aka "The Restroom Access Act" specifically prohibits retail establishments from denying customers with medical conditions access to their bathroom facilities. This store, and it's staff, have not only violated the law, they've also violated that poor woman's human rights, and have made a mockery of the very ideology of what your organization supposedly stands for. I guess it's a good thing "Charity begins at home" because it certainly doesn't exist in the hearts of your employees or their manager. Shame...
