A Nightmarish Experience at OLIV: A Review of Incompetence and Degeneracy
I want to share my honest and highly critical review of OLIV, a place I unfortunately called home for three excruciating years. My experience with this establishment can only be described as an unending nightmare, with a management team that demonstrated sheer incompetence, a staff characterized by rudeness and entitlement, and an overall environment that reeked of neglect and decay.
Let's start with the management, or rather, the lack thereof. Throughout my tenancy, I found myself repeatedly encountering situations that required their attention, only to be met with empty promises and a complete lack of follow-through. Any attempts to address the appalling conditions within the building were met with indifference and disregard. The management's failure to take swift action to rectify ongoing issues speaks volumes about their lack of professionalism and concern for their tenants' well-being.
The behavior of the workers at OLIV was equally abhorrent. Their rudeness and sense of entitlement were on full display at every interaction. It seemed as though they regarded their positions as an opportunity to exert power over residents rather than provide the assistance and support expected in a living community. The rude security workers' practice of intrusively questioning someone subsequent to showing them the fob is a violation of human rights.
One cannot overlook the deplorable state of the premises. The entire building was marred by a repugnant combination of vomit, dog feces, urine, and the unsettling presence of homeless individuals. It is beyond comprehension that such conditions were allowed to persist. Elevators, instead of being a convenient means of transportation, became chambers of stench and despair. The sight of feces inside the elevator, vomit on every floor, and the lingering smell of urine in every nook and cranny was a constant assault on the senses. This place and the perimeter around it is a BIO-HAZARD
Despite multiple complaints filed with the management, the situation remained unchanged. Promises to address the issues were made but never fulfilled, leaving residents like myself feeling disregarded and helpless. The lack of action in the face of these disturbing circumstances is an utter failure on the part of the management, further reinforcing the dire state of OLIV.
In my years of renting and residing in various apartment complexes, I have never encountered a place that exhibits such unparalleled levels of degeneracy. OLIV is a disgraceful establishment that tarnishes the reputation of the entire housing industry. To anyone seeking to maintain their dignity, I implore you: steer clear of this wretched place. It is an embodiment of negligence, incompetence, and an utter lack of regard for the well-being of...
Read moreGiving Oliv a 1 star rating only because the location is great and close to campus. Aside from the location I can't say I've had a positive time living here, I've lived in two other high rises on campus and had MUCH better experiences. There is literally nothing special about this apartment and the price of rent in comparison to the value of living is very inferior to what I've had before. It's expensive to live here but Oliv does special events and giveaways here and there to distract from the fact that living here is just meh and to encourage positive reviews because there's an incentive on the other end. The amenities are pretty sub par considering how expensive it is to live here, every exit sign in my hallways is broken and I assume the other floors are similar, the trash rooms are always backed up and smell disgusting, I've heard tons of horror stories about packages being "lost" yet I've seen TONS of packages left on the front desks with no one at the front desk guarding them or putting them in our mail boxes, I never know when the front doors are going to be locked or unlocked because some days the doors are locked during open front desk hours and some days the front doors are open after hours (not a big deal just inconvenient and can be unsafe), I have yet to see a single manager of any kind and whenever I've requested to speak with someone about an issue they're conveniently on break or unable to talk, I've been waiting on some maintenance requests since move in because when we moved into our apartment the entire unit was basically one large maintenance request. Our couch had cigarette burns and animal scratches all over it but when we asked for a new one they said the other couches were worse, and ours was pretty bad. My roommate has a HUGE hole in her bathroom ceiling because their shower has been leaking for months but maintenance has yet to do anything to fix it and it doesn't even seem like they tried to resolve it? Our blinds randomly fell out of the ceiling one day and maintenance has yet to fix it leaving us with absolutely no privacy in our living room and our unit faces the Marriott. I could honestly go on and on about the issues I've had living here, I've lived in college apartment high rises before and never had any of the issues I've had here at Oliv. My review will probably be discarded because it isn't ideal and looks bad for Oliv, I've seen so many responses to negative reviews in which the person that wrote the review is told they're not found in the Oliv system as a resident or management responds to the comment offering help or condolences for the poor experience but I can't say that it seems genuine. Overall, I would take the positive reviews with a grain of salt because these reviews are probably majority incentivized with a...
Read moreAs a parent of a student that lived there last year, I can tell you from experience to you should look elsewhere for student housing. It was a brand new building when my son and his friends moved into several of the apartments last year and there were several problems. Right before they moved in we were told about a concrete pole in the middle of my son's room that they didn't notify anyone about. They did give us a credit, but if it hadn't been so close to the start of school and not being able to find another place for them, they wouldn't have even moved in. That was just the start. As several other reviews stated, the bathrooms would constantly leak. We aren't even exactly sure where the water was coming from (it seemed like under the wall). They couldn't even get anyone to come fix it until I contacted them. Then they came up and said "it stopped leaking." It leaked at least once a month. Their washer/dryer stopped working almost as soon as they moved in. Again, no one wanted to fix it until I called. Which leads me to the next problem, good luck getting ahold of anyone. The people that answer the phone are rude and not helpful. My son and every single one of his friends in his apartment and other apartments, each had their entire deposit or partial deposit withheld. We got a potion and they kept the rest for painting, cleaning and 'a left item.' The bathroom was stained because of the leaking, we aren't sure why we should have to pay for poor construction. I have called several time to talk to the manager, Jina, only to be told they wouldn't transfer me until I told the person that answered the phone "what I wanted with Jina.' I sent several emails to Jina asking for more information about the deposit, pictures of what they were talking about or any additional information they can give me to justify keeping any of his deposit. The morning he moved out, we had him take pictures of his bedroom and bathroom. I offered to share them with Jina and compare them with the pictures Oliv has. However, it is 10/3 and she has never returned my phone calls or emails. The only email she sent was on 8/5 and she said they were in the middle of turning the building over and would flag my email and get back to me with the pictures and the additional information I requested. It is two months later and I am still waiting for a response. I hate to have to take this matter further, but since Oliv hasn't responded to my correspondence, I am left with no other choice. Please read all the reviews and talk to someone that has actually lived at the Oliv before you sign a lease. It is very expensive and we had...
