This is my favorite yarn store in Tucson. There is so much fiber and yarn it might seem overwhelming at first. If you don't find what you are looking for all you have to do is ask. If there is not enough yarn on the shelf for your project, just ask, there is usually understock or it can be order for you if the manufacturer has not discontinued it. In the fiber section I find it really hard not to buy the more unusual fibers like Camel Down, Yak, different kinds of alpaca or wool. Are you looking for a breed specific fiber start here.
You can also bring your spinning wheel and spend sometime spinning and chatting. You can not do that in any other yarn store in Tucson. Most people bring their crocheting or knitting. Everyone is very friendly.
Also if you have young children most customers that are spinning or knitting don't mind sharing and showing the children. There are also things for children to do while you shop for yarn or fiber. Very...
Read moreThere are so many reasons I love this store! A year ago I bought an interchangeable set of ChaioGoo circular needles. I started having problems with one of the tips. I mentioned it to one of the ladies at Grandma's and they immediately exchanged them for me! Recently I scheduled a "knitting shuttle" from my 55+ community, I mixed up the times we would arrive. They were so nice about it! They even had cookies and tea for us! A while ago I was doing a "Knit Along Shawl" project and was having some problems with a stitch that was new to me. I brought my project in and they helped me work through the problem. They were very patient as they taught me how to do the stitch. As a knitter I love the variety of yarns available in this store. Every knitter can find a quality yarn to fit their pocket book. Patience, variety of product, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and reasonable pricing. If you love fiber work, you gotta go...
Read moreI’ve always thought of the knitting community as being welcoming and helpful. I used to live in Tucson and visit my family here frequently. One of our visits every year is an extended visit so I’ve been in all of the existing and many of the previous yarn shops in town. This trip I received yarn from a designer to do a test knit. I had hoped to receive and wind the yarn before coming to Tucson but it didn’t arrive on time. The yarn was forwarded to me here. I wound one of the 600 yarn skeins by hand. That was a LONG process. I took the remaining two skeins to this shop, where I have purchased yarn in the past, hoping they would wind the yarn for me. I explained my situation and offered to pay to have the yarn wound. I was turned down. I won’t...
