Dinner and a show! We were promptly face to face with the real chef Remy from Ratatouille as we sat in this dimly lit and cozy Italian restaurant. Our server saw our little mouse friend scurry across the floor 3-feet away from us as we awkwardly got through our starter order. We exchanged nervous eye contact. All good though, I promptly asked my date to use the restroom as I looked for someone to help us change tables. Despite this cat snack being feet away from my toes, the kitchen and front of house were too occupied exchanging nervous giggles to help. Luckily, I was able to lock eyes with someone and asked to move tables. No one said a word to us of what we had just experienced, no attempts to ease our nervousness. There we sat, held hostage by the brussel sprout starter as it got to our table. A new server came by and we ordered some wine, a pizza, and the rigatoni. I can’t say I didn’t like the flavor of our brussel sprouts but the amount of chili heat had us quickly emptying the self serve pitcher of water. The rigatoni was alright and the arugula & prosciutto pizza could have used something sweet to tie it all together. But back to our entertainment. You’d think they would stop sitting people out near Fievel Mousekewitz but no, no, no, the show must go on. Five minutes pass and the host sat someone just a table over and eventually sat a family of three at the table in which Speedy Gonzalez was spotted. While I didn’t ask for it, nor do I think we are entitled to it, I would have appreciated if any of the servers or a manager would have come talked to us and maybe attempted to make...
Read moreAs a Tucson local I hadn’t been to Reilly’s in about a year and I can say the place has gone downhill.
The service was poor. When we ordered our drinks we said we’d be ready to order when she came to deliver the drinks. She delivered the drinks but left instantly without giving us the opportunity to order.
We waited for a while and had to wave over waitstaff to get assistance with reaching our waiter so we could order entres.
We received entres from a runner, but we did not have utensils, so we had to grab some off an empty table. We finished our appetizers, and another runner came to drop off our entries, but they did not clear the appetizer plates from our 2-top, so we had to place our empty dishes on the ledge bordering our table and the ones next to us. Our dinner plates would not have fit otherwise.
When the server finally checked on us to ask how the food was, she would have left without even taking those plates off the ledge if we had not specifically stopped her and asked her to take them.
The pizza was soaked in oil and wine was lackluster. I will not be going there again anytime soon.
I’ll add that it’s very loud inside due to the acoustics of the dining area. We understand that dinner service can be difficult, but the service was inexcusable for the food to not be amazing afterward. Sad to see a Tucson classic in the state it is in. Moral of the story, might as well hit up Dennys for what you will get at Reilly’s...
Read moreI met this guy about a year ago on a flight from LAX to TUS. We were chatting about restaurants in Tucson and he told me I MUST try this place along with the bar in the basement. I bookmarked it, and finally tried it this past weekend.
I booked a table for six, we had 2 birthdays in the group -- only one that would openly admit it. We were immediately seated and attended to by this amazing server. I say amazing (even though I can't remember her name) because she was on top of everything and did it all by memory... never wrote a thing down. She checked on us the right amount and took great care of us.
Cocktails on deck for the evening that were big hits - Boy, Don't You Look Nice and Vodka Smash. They were both divine, and I believe I had at least two... could have been three Boy, Don't You Look Nice's.
Our table ordered the Brussels, bacon/egg, and truffle fries starters. They were demolished in less than ten minutes. We ordered a couple of salads (the chopped was the bomb), pizzas, and several different pastas. All of the food was prepared beautifully, tasty and devoured. I must say though the big hit at the table (thankfully two of us ordered it) was the Vodka Sauce Rigatoni. I seriously could have just eaten an entire bucket full of it.
Our fab server closed the night out by bringing over a tiramisu with a candle in it for my niece. Super awesome and sweet... the gesture AND...
