Parents of students, beware! This is a great location, but if you choose to let your child live here it will cost you. No one here cares if the air, or fridge, or washing machine isn't working. They don't care if the toilet handle doesn't work, or if there are missing lightbulbs or broken light fixtures when you move in. But, when you move out they will charge you for everything that they choose needs repair or upgrading, including carpeting. Months after the move out inspection, we received our partial refund. The amount we got was minus a window lock and 2 light bulbs. That cost us almost $100. Each. The move out was in July. In OCTOBER we received a bill for carpet replacement. I never got a real answer when I called except that the owner of the unit was allergic to cats and he could tell a cat had been there. They charge a $300 pet fee which my daughter's roommate paid when they moved in. Now both girls are getting a $300 bill, each, to replace carpet that was already well worn from day one. This is all part of a scheme for the unit owners to get free upgrades for things that should be considered normal wear and tear. My advice is to steer clear of Midtown Village. But, if you do end up here, take pictures of every detail and turn on every light and appliance. When you move out, take even more pictures so you can prove that you left the place in the same shape that you...
Read moreI've lived here for seven years and (especially compared to other places in town) it has been wonderful. We moved here after we lost our home in the tornado and - we were not planning on it - but never left because we like it so much. I like that it is a safe, gated community and that I can walk to shops and eateries. The courtyards are landscaped beautifully and the workout facility, pool and grills are all super convenient for me. It's a very fast drive to campus (or even a nice walk), and close to the Interstate when I need to get to Birmingham.
While the condos are individually owned, as long as you know that going into your lease then you will know what to expect. Maintenance is always friendly and quick. When I have had (minor) problems, when I go talk to management they are solved quickly and courteously. I love...
Read moreI've never written a review in my life but had to for how terrible this place is. Maintenance takes forever because they don't do anything themselves. Casey in the leasing office is completely incompetent at literally everything. He never has answers for anything and does nothing to help you other than say i don't know. The people that run this place are so lazy I will never live here again. Edit: I actually do currently live here and am writing this review under an alias. Do not be fooled the management staff here just wants your money and does not care about making this a pleasant experience tenants. Its been so terrible living here none of my roommates will ever live here again mostly due to the people that...
