Second-Degree Burn result from IPL Photofacial. On May 8, 2025, ahead of Motherâs Day weekend, I visited Body Sculpt Skin Laser (BSSL), located at 8000 Towers Crescent Dr, 13th Floor, Vienna, VA 22182, for an IPL Photofacial treatment on my face. Unfortunately, the experience resulted in a second-degree burn, confirmed by my dermatologist the following day, and has required medical attention and ongoing care. While I understand that cosmetic procedures carry some risks, I was not adequately informed of the potential for such a severe reaction. I also felt that proper safety measures and aftercare guidance were lacking, which contributed to this painful and distressing outcome.
Here is a summary of the visit: I arrived at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. appointment. The office was difficult to navigate, with no unit number listedâjust a shared reception area on the 13th floor. After calling for directions, I was told to wait in the reception area and eventually learned BSSL operates out of a virtual office. The technician/owner arrived a few minutes later, had me check in using a QR code, and soon texted to say she needed more time to print a intake form. I informed her that I had a 1:00 p.m. appointment in Maryland and could not be significantly delayed. At approximately 11:45 a.m.â45 minutes past my scheduled appointmentâI was finally brought into her office. She asked a few intake questions, including one about my ethnicity. I suggested they digitize the medical history form to avoid future delays, just as they already require clients to complete other intake forms prior to arrival. This would help eliminate issues caused by printing problems or missing paperwork. Instead of acknowledging the suggestion, she responded with a series of unsolicited and inappropriate remarks: That I should stick to one provider instead of using Groupon deals. That I should not travel from Maryland to Virginia for treatments. That I should visit a provider of my ethnicity in Maryland, where she claimed many clients âlike meâ go.
This exchange felt unprofessional and presumptive. She then briefly cleansed my face, took a few photos, and applied eye shields before beginning treatment on my forehead.
The pain was immediate and intense. I told her it was too painful and asked her to lower the settings. She refused, insisting that the level was appropriate for my skin type. Despite repeated requests, she would not adjust the intensity. I eventually asked her to stop the treatment altogether.
Afterward, she examined the redness on my forehead and said it was normal. She then requested payment. I presented a printed Groupon voucher, but she refused to accept it, insisting I use the app to generate a QR code or she would charge my credit card on file. Frustrated and in pain, I told her this was the worst spa experience I had ever had and left the office.
In the reception area, I recognized one of the doctors listed on BSSLâs website and politely approached her to express my concerns. While I was showing her my forehead, the technician/owner came out abruptly, demanded I leave, and escalated the situation by calling building securityâeven though I had remained calm and respectful throughout.
Back in my car around 12:00 p.m., I noticed three darkened areas on my forehead in addition to the redness. I rescheduled my 1:00 p.m. appointment and returned to the building, where I waited in the lobby until 1:30 p.m., attempting to contact the technician/owner by phone and text with no response. I also took photos of the developing injury.
Throughout the afternoon and evening, I continued reaching out to her with no reply. My forehead was in severe pain, requiring pain medication just to sleep. The following morning, I saw my dermatologist, who diagnosed me with a...

DO NOT GIVE EVA MIRANDA YOUR CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD. EVA CHARGED $700 ON MY CREDIT CARD.
She advertises on GROUP ON using McLean Body Contouring and Laser Center and does business as Body Sculpt Skin Laser, using pictures for technology such as Ultherapy, Morpheus8, Thermage FLX, EMUSCULPT and PICO to name a few, but THIS IS THE FIRST LIE.
When you notice that none of these names are on the machines in her office at 8000 Towers Crescent Dr 13th Floor, Vienna VA, she tells you that they are âKNOCK OFFSâ that allows her to pass the âLOWER PRICESâ she advertises to her customers.
She quoted me a price of $350 for a PICO procedure that Iâd already done TWICE, previously at a Plastic Surgeon Office to begin removal of the dark pigment from scars after breast reduction using PICO laser.
She quoted me $350 which was higher than what Iâd paid at the Plastic Surgeonsâ office, but since Iâd paid for a [GROUP ON $189 for an âUltherapy treatment for under chinâ (NO THE MACHINE SHE USED WAS NOT ULTHERAPY. It looked like a refurbished FRAXEL machine). It did have the same sensation from FRAXEL so maybe it will workâŠ. I decided to try âHERâ PICO laser machine.
A PICO LASER sends a shot of energy to disrupt the dark pigment in a scar. Anyone whoâs gotten a PICO procedure for scar or tattoo removal knows it stings and you get a slight blistering in the area as the skin peels off over the next few days and weeks.
I felt nothing, but she kept telling me SHE was using the MAXIMUM strength as she pressed down on the scars, then she tells me theyâre getting red, like the PICO laser. SECOND LIE IT WAS NOT TRUE. WHAT SHE USED DOES NOT COMPARE TO A PICO LASER. IT DID NOTHING.
She asked for my credit card for payment. She put it into one of those SQUARE devices and said sheâd email me the receipt. I looked at my email and didnât see a receipt, so I logged into my bank. EVA CHARGED $700 ON MY CREDIT CARD.
SHOCK. I stood there looking at this woman in shock asking her HOW SHE COULD JUST CHARGE $700 after a verbal quote of $350. She said it was $350 a breast!!!! Then she said âawkwardâ. Unbelievable! As I walked out STUNNED, trying to figure out my recourse, she texts me that I should get financing and shift the $350.
I PRAY THAT GOD, IN HEAVEN STEPS IN TO DEAL WITH THIS PREDATOR.
KNOW what to do in such a situation. I called the POLICE. THEY told me that I should have called them IMMEDIATELY and not left the office so that they can put it on record for the civil court. Below she claims audio evidence. AGAIN SHE CONTINUALLY LIES.
I hope that whoever reads this uses caution. READ ALL THE REVIEWS especially the low ones. You'll see a pattern emerging.
PS I have a text from her offering a discount if I wrote 5 STAR REVIEW before I even got a...
Read moreTotal waste of time and money on procedure that does not work! I Initially went in for consultation for SculpSure to contour my abdomen area then during consultation upsell me on a new equipment she has which was the Neo Emsculpt which was $3000 for 4 sessions at 50% off at the time. She claimed it can reduce body fat by 30% more in comparison to the SculpSure so I said ok. I've done a fat freezing service 3 years prior before so she already have my credit card information and everything went smoothly.
I've done all 4 sessions of the EmSculpt, spaced out weekly, with not much noticeable difference as I am a skinny person with a small pouch. I could have easily done a fat freezing (cool sculpt) or SculpSure for way less for the desired result but this woman is money hungry and upsell me on a procedure that does absolutely nothing for me.
Fast forward 2 months later she said she wanted to offer me 2 free sessions of the EmSculpt if I write her a five stars reveiw on Google and Groupon and that she went to an EmSculpt conference and the doctor there recommended 6 sessions to see results instead of 4 sessions. I should have been suspicious but I agree. However I couldn't make it to the appointment and had to reschedule because I was not feeling well.
I notice a $100 credit card charge on my bank account and I ask her about it and she said because I cancelled the appointment less than 24 hours. She was also very rude over the text messages. I told her I didn't ask for this appointment and that she was the one who contacted me in the first place to write her a 5 star review in exchange for the free sessions. I told her I will be disputing it and she responded that she always win her disputes. Unbelievable!
All I can conclude about Eva is that she will take advantage of you and try to upsell you on expensive treatments that DOES NOT WORK!! Only a scammer behave like...
