I stayed here for a few weeks. The AC is the worst setup I've ever seen in a hotel. It's motion-sensored and reverts back to admin settings after just a few minutes of it not registering activity...and the sensor is in the hall next to the door, where no one regularly is. There are no other functional sensors in the room.
In short, the thermostat is essentially the same as that toy remote you give to infants to make them feel like they're controlling the TV.
So if you are hot and set the temperature to 68 (lowest it will allow), if you're not actively walking around in the hallway, it will revert back to whatever they wish it to be in about five minutes. Most days I would wake up to it being 71+ in the room. It is also loud when turning on or shutting off - and it shuts off a lot during the night.
I know this is a feature, not a bug, as there was a full day the AC wasn't working at all, so they fixed the AC in the room and forgot to enable the child-lock - for two full days, I got to sleep comfortably and not wake up sweating. When housekeeping services came by next, they re-enabled the child-lock and it was back to being uncomfortable.
During the day, I would often open the window to get some fresh air into the room. I would shut the thermostat off to conserve energy - nope, after approximately 5 minutes of no motion in the hallway, it will turn itself back on. When I'd walk over to the thermostat, it would register I was in the room when I was in front of it and turn back off. Go back to the desk, and it would turn back on again. Eventually I just let it run, as there is not a viable option to turn the thermostat off. The other option is to walk across the room every 5 minutes to the hall so the sensor registers there's someone in the room.
After you wake up in a sweat, shower, and are able to leave the room, the hotel isn't all that bad. The staff are polite and friendly, and the location is great - walking distance to several restaurants and two shopping centers. The rooms themselves are relatively clean and well kept.
There are also several other hotels in the immediate vicinity that would offer the former two and maybe..just maybe, even comfortable temperature in...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Tysons Corner, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. The staff at this hotel was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, they were warm, welcoming, and attentive to my every need. Their level of service was outstanding, and they consistently went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. Especially the General Manager and the front desk receptionist Larry (you should think about fast tracking his career to manager before another hotel chain picks him up).
I had the unique experience of staying at the hotel for over 40 days, which is quite a long time by any standard. However, the staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Tysons Corner made it an incredible experience. They made me feel at home and took care of every detail, making sure I had everything I needed. Their efficiency and responsiveness were remarkable, and I couldn't have asked for better service.
One of the standout features of this hotel is its great rates. Considering the quality of service and amenities provided, the value for money is truly exceptional. The location is also perfect, as it is close to everything I needed during my stay. Whether it was shopping, dining, or exploring the city, everything was conveniently within reach.
The beds at this hotel were hands down the most comfortable I've ever slept in. After a long day, sinking into the plush mattress and luxurious linens was pure bliss. I woke up refreshed and rejuvenated each morning, ready to take on the day.
I must also give a special mention to the cleaning staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Tysons Corner. They were meticulous in their work, ensuring that every corner of the hotel was spotless. The cleanliness standards were impeccable, making me feel safe and comfortable throughout my stay.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend the Courtyard by Marriott Tysons Corner to anyone in need of a fantastic hotel experience. With its excellent staff, great rates, convenient location, comfortable beds, and top-notch cleanliness, it deserves a solid 5-star rating. My time there was nothing short of exceptional, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again...
Read moreWhile the hotel was recently updated and in good condition, there were several things that did not meet what I have come to expect from my frequent stays at Marriott properties. First, I should say that the front-desk staff were excellent, in keeping with Marriott's high standards of professionalism and helpfulness. However, there were several things that made my stay less than enjoyable. First, the bed in this hotel was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on at a Marriott. I woke up every morning with an achy back. Additionally, the quality of the sheets was so poor that my elbows were red and sore from rubbing against them while I half-slept. Additionally, while may have been out of the property's control, the hotel's shop was very poorly stocked. I was there for six nights and every day the shop just got worse and worse until it looked like it had been ransacked in advance of a hurricane. There were almost no snacks available at all by the second day of my stay. On my final day in the hotel (which was a Sunday) I had a "do not disturb" sign on my door as I planned to sleep in after a long week of training. Mush to my dismay, I was awoken at 8:30 A.M. with a knock at the door. At first, I thought it was a knock on the neighboring door, but then there was a second knock and I knew it was my door. Why would someone come to clean my room on a Sunday morning when I clearly did not want to be disturbed? The location of the hotel is quite good as it is within walking distance of lots of shopping and restaurants. And, as I said, the front-desk staff were polite, responsive, and professional. The gym was also very clean and had plenty of great equipment. But on balance, the very uncomfortable bed and sheets, the poorly stocked shop, and being woken up when I was hoping to sleep in would lead me to choose another Marriott hotel in the area were I to travel to Tysons...
