We visited Ramen Shu last night for the second time excited for some more delicious soup and we were greeted by a really snotty waitress named Kesia. It was windy and cold so we asked if we could sit in the back area away from the door. She said it was full back there and sat us by the door. Oh well we thought because at least we were about to have some delicious warm ramen! We waited and waited as she stood around talking wondering if that was just a hostess or our waitress. Then she finally comes over and gets our order. I go to the restroom and pass the back room going there and THERE IS NO ONE IN THAT ROOM!! Then when I get back to our table... she seats the next couple in the back room. Are you serious?! So a man brings us our food and it's delicious. We ordered the veggie miso ramen HIGHLY RECOMMEND! And Kesia never checks back up on us or even acknowledges us the entire time we're eating. Empty water glasses sitting on the edge of our table. We get up and ask someone if we can get more water and a man brings us a refill. We wait and wait trying to flag her down for our check and it almost seems like she is completely ignoring us on purpose! Frustrated... we get up and walk over to the register catching her and ask for our check. She then turns to the guy next to her and says "can you get this table their check". Seriously? It wasn't even busy! Who hired this girl? Food was good but the service was so bad, especially compared to our first experience, that we've decided not to return due to how...

Ramen Shu is a Japanese Restaurant that specializes in Ramen; but they also serve meals such as the Chicken Karaage, which I had during my last visit.
The Chicken Karaaage meal came with a side of salad, soup, rice, and a main dish of 'Tender and Juicy' fried chicken which blew my mind!
The soup/broth is a simple yet packed with Umami flavors! Rice is perfectly cooked.
But the Chicken was just amazing. I've never had a fried chicken that's juicy, crunchy, and tender at the same time. The sauce used in the dish also amplifies the flavor and aroma of the dish.
I would also highly recommend that you try their Dragon Ramen and Spicy Seafood ramen which are a MUST!
Here's a guide of their menu prices:
Soft drinks/ Refreshments- $2.00 - $3.50 Appetizers- $3.00 - $5.00 Main Menu/ A la carte- $10.00 - $14.00 Dessert-$4.00 - $6.00
The restaurant has ample free parking for all customers.
They aren't practicing the traditional Japanese restaurant setting by keeping their western customers in mind. Thus, they offer an ambiance that's a combination of both Western and Eastern culture.
The staff is very accommodating, friendly, and hardworking.
So, please make sure to leave a tip if you enjoy the wonderful food and have an extraordinary experience at this amazing place that has an authentic Japanese Chef who has a passion and vigour to amaze people with...
Read moreTonkotsu - this is a pretty good bowl of ramen overall. The broth was missing some extra "oomphf" of milkiness that I was hoping for. The standard serving does not include menma which I feel like is essential to a traditional tonkotsu... the chasu had more of a smokiness, grilled flavor as opposed to the sweet caramelization from the sake/ mirin marinating one may typically expect. All said, this is solid for the Bay Area in my experience but maybe not a recreation of tonkotsu ramen you would get in Japan. There was a richness to the broth and noodles were perfectly cooked!
Karaage - plump, super juicy, big pieces of perfectly brined chicken. The batter has less crunch and more crisp, something captured perfectly here. Served with a bit of cabbage, a really sweet kewpie mayo, and a shishito. I loved this and gets perfectly dunked in a bowl of ramen lol.
Takoyaki - Less tako, more yaki. I would say the filled contents are probably 5% tako if that. I ate these and did not get a chew of octopus at least twice... though, cooked and topped perfectly with a great flavor.
Service was friendly and prompt, and left us to enjoy all aspects of the meal. These dishes and some tea were about $75 for...
