Dixie Gun Works — Attraction in Union City

I find the products they offer to be of okay quality but never quite as good as Track of the Wolf. Ordered flints which were very poor, a flint knapping tool only DGW offers which left a lot to be desired and finally a sling which needed to be exchanged due to craftsmanship defects. The Brown Bess I ordered from them came fast and packaged well, I have no complaints. I also ordered .715 lead balls that are well packaged and good enough quality. My main concern is that they stop posting reviews on an item when the rating begins to decline. For example, the 1” flint, one of the most popular flint sizes that’s usually sold out everywhere, indicating lots of volume, doesn’t have a review since 2012. Seriously? I myself posted a negative review of the flints and I’m sure many others have but the item was dropping below 4 stars so they stop approving customer reviews. I ordered a Kentucky pistol off of their website. They sent one to me that was different than the one pictured that I ordered. I spoke with Hunter Kirkland, the owner, about the mix-up and he told me "...when you order something online you can't expect to get the exact thing you ordered, as long as it is close, that is good enough." I have recently begun collecting and attempting to restore antique firearms. After searching the web for places to buy parts, and more importantly, get reliable advice, I settled on DGW and have been very happy with their service. I ordered parts that were reasonably priced and shipped immediately. I have spoken to the gunsmith about very specific problems and received straight answers that reflected his knowledge of the firearm I was working on.
