Let’s get straight into it, new restaurant, first time trying it. A cool chill spot to go to after work or hangout, almost felt like stacks rooftop bar. Service was good, our waitress was very kind. Now let’s talk about the food. My receipt for my meal was a plate of the bacon and egg fried rice, 2 orders of short rib pot stickers, the short rib pho, and Korean bbq French fries all for a total of around 50$ which is by far a great price for the amount of food received. Let’s start with the two least enjoyed items . pho, I’m not sure what style of pho they were going for but as soon as I tasted the broth it was definitely broth they used for ramen and not your traditional pho. The noodles bland broth by themselves, ehhhhhh i would say a bit on the blander side. I wanna be able to drink the broth after I finish the noodles and other content inside of it but the broth has to taste good in order to do that. Never the less I ate it all and it was enjoyable at the very least. The Korean bbq fries, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the fries taste, they tasted like fries covered in bbq sauce. That being said, they were just fries covered in bbq sauce. I liked the idea it looked good on paper but I was expected something a kin to Cajun fries but Korean not just normal fries drizzled in sauce. Still ate them all 💯💯 Next on the chopping block, the bacon and egg fried rice, honestly gotta say it was pretty dang good, a lil bit greasy, so it made it hard to pick up with the ceramic chopsticks 😭 please use wood chopsticks, but none the less no problems with the taste. The pork belly in it was tender and the rice itself 🤌🏽 Delicious. Last but not forgotten, the short rib pot stickers, the highlight of the meal, 2 orders a total of 12 stickers that unfortunately I had to share with my friend. Tender, juicy, flavorful, a little spice to make it right🤌🏽👌🏽👍🏽🤙🏽 I could sit at the bar all afternoon ordering them. Okay last part now! My suggestions: Wooden chopsticks! make a Korean seasoning for the fries! Pho and ramen can’t exist under the same sky!
Will be back Saturday to try the rest of the menu! Stay tuned...
Read moreOrdered Yakisoba (no add-ons) and a dragon roll for lunch on a Friday. The interior is a no frills brewery style eatery with tables, booths, and a bar. There is outside seating but we ate inside. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food was tasty and presented well, tho seemed a little pricey given the portion size. The noodles were cooked correctly and had plenty of flavorful sauce and toppings that combined tangy, smoky, and slightly spicy notes that seemed well balanced. The dragon roll was fine and came with an American-level of unagi sauce applied to the plate. At twenty bucks for the roll, I expected a little more of a dynamic flavor but I finished the whole thing so it's not like I was actually complaining. We also tried the Korean BBQ fries which come slathered in a generic Korean-inspired sauce with brisket and various other toppings. They too were tasty, tho I'm not sure about the authenticity of calling them Korean anything. I suppose that's the "fusion"part of Asian fusion that their recipes can hide behind a little. I'm not a beer person so I have no comments on their drinks other than that the water was fine, lol.
I would recommend if you're in the area and someone suggests going there to check it out. The food was good enough for that at least, tho I'm not sure it would be worth taking a...
Read moreThis was my first time visiting Blockhead. We arrived around 12:30 pm for lunch. The hostess was less than friendly, which gave a bad first impression. Our waitress quickly arrived and changed the mood. Megan was cheerful, friendly, and helpful. She helped us to decide which menu items best suited us and suggested modifications based on our preferences. She even brought samples of beer to the table. I ordered the sushi called "Misery Loves Compliments," and it was AMAZING!! I also tried the Yakisoba with added chicken & veggies. Honestly, I didn't care for the chicken. It was tough and chewy. The flavor of the dish was great, and the noodles were good. I feel that the dish would've been amazing if I had ordered seafood instead of chicken. The bao "Slide Thru" was excellent. My company enjoyed the "Dude Incredible" and stated that it is their new favorite dish. The drinks were good as well. I ordered a rum drink called Sailor Moon, and my company ordered Titos & and Club Soda. Overall, this was a great experience, and I would definitely come back. I recommend everyone stop in at least once. The restaurant is very inviting and...
