Until recently, Digital Cowboy offered a "free diagnostic" for computers that customers bring in. I had, in the past, brought in 2 different computers on 2 separate occasions and had them diagnosed for free. So, naturally, when another computer that I had built started having issues I didn't have time to deal with, I took it in to them for a free diagnostic.
I spoke to the representative, and told him I wanted this "free diagnostic." He said, "Ok." and grabbed an order sheet, wrote my information on it, and told me to initial next to the service that said "$60 - Standard bench fee for troubleshooting and diagnostics." When I questioned him about the $60 on the paper, he said, "Yeah, it says $60, but we're just going to do that free diagnostic for you." Like an idiot, I believed him and initialed.
2 days later, I go in to pick up my computer, and they tell me I owe them $60 plus tax for the work. I ask, clearly confused, "I thought I was getting a free diagnostic?" The tech claims, and I kid you not, "The free diagnosis is that your computer wouldn't boot into Windows." Of course, I knew that the computer wouldn't boot into Windows; that's why I brought it in to them in the first place. So, basically their diagnosis is to tell me the exact same thing I tell them when I bring it in in the first place?
But never mind the fact that the diagnostic bit was a sham. The representative I dealt with NEVER TOLD ME I WOULD BE CHARGED. I talked to him on 2 occasions over the phone during the 2 days my machine was in their shop, and never once did he say, "Okay, well any work we do from this point on, we will have to charge you for."
Now, of course, all this could be explained away by saying it was simply a "bad employee." Except that a friend of mine contacted the owner to bring him up to speed on the situation and see what he had to say about everything. The owner, after looking into the situation, stood by what the employees had done and said, even agreeing that simply repeating the information I gave the representative when I first brought the machine in was sufficient for a "free diagnostic."
Needless to say, I am out $60. I won't be going back to Digital Cowboy, and I'll be taking my friends, family and everyone I know who owns a...
Read moreThe absolute worst and rudest service I have ever had with a company. I took my brand new and my old laptops in because they told me they could easily transfer my data from the old to the new. Told me it would take two days. They called me on day seven to tell me it was ready. When I tried to open my files on the new laptop, nothing would open. Nothing! I took the laptops back as I was told it would be fixed but was accused by one of the techs of taking my laptop somewhere else and that someone else messed it up. I can assure that is not the case. It went from the store I bought it from, to my house, never opened and still in the box, to Digital Cowboys, to my house, then back to them. I was told they would work on it that evening and it would be ready the next morning. I received a call at 9:34 am with more questions about what I needed done then was told they would have it finished and would call in four hours to let me know I could pick it up. I still had not heard from them at 5:30. I picked it back up today and we will see if...
Read moreI had an 'oops' early Friday morning, and it turned into a good experience, via a Great LOCAL (Dayton OH area) Company!!
Great Service!! Fair and Honest!! What more can I say!
In the wee hours of Friday morning, I accidentally spilled liquid on the left 20% of the keyboard on my PC! Of course the screen started putting on a beautiful light show before I was able to get it powered off.
I took it up to their shop. While there, they gave it a brief 'once-over' and determined that it need to stay in the shop. They said they would look at it on Saturday and call me on Monday with an estimate.
They called me on Monday and said to come pick the laptop up..It was DONE.
So I went up there and they explained it was working, all keys were working. They had it up for 4 hours and all was well!
Then they picked up the work order off the top of the PC.
Then came the BIGGEST SHOCKER of this experience! THERE WAS NO CHARGE. Zero, zip, nadda.
The laptop works like a charm! I would highly...
