my bf and I are big tippers and we enjoy trying new places. We went on 6/13 but there was no piano music that night. Apparently a piano player is every other night. We stayed, got some drinks, and it was cute. However, we were being doubled charged for our drinks. The kind waitress said 2 drinks come out of one of the Bacardi malt cans and did not charge us twice. We went back on 6/14 to hear piano music which was absolutely beautiful. However, we had a nasty elderly waitress with quite the mouth on her. My bf asked for the can of Bacardi and she outright stated she could not do that. We got doubled charged for the same amount of drinks. We were questioning this and the waitress just threw her hands up and mumbled something before walking away. Yet, the whole time we were sitting there, she was serving many other people their full cans of beverages. It seems this place really only caters to the 55+ people and everyone under 55+ are treated poorly. I didn't even dare mention to our waitress that when she served my one drink that it was a lot less than my bf's drink which meant I got the leftover from the one can. A few other local bartenders that we tip well with had warned us about this place and that it is known for doing that to drinks. Such a shame because it was a cute little joint but not worth being screwed over with. I also took pictures of my receipts and the one my bf signed incase they try screwing with the...
Read moreWe recently became snowbirds in the Venice Island area, and one night, while driving by, we heard piano music and sing-alongs coming from the Zebra Lounge. Intrigued, we decided to stop in—and we’re so glad we did!
From the moment we sat down, the experience was magical. The entertainer (Tom) for the night immediately sat next to us, striking up a conversation and asking what songs we’d like to hear. It felt personal and welcoming, setting the tone for an incredible evening. Ari, the owner, also stopped by to introduce himself, adding a touch of hospitality that’s rare these days.
The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, reminiscent of the small, vibrant venues we loved in New York City’s West Village—specifically spots like Terra Blues on Bleecker Street. The energy here is fantastic, completely unexpected for such a quiet part of Florida.
We spent the night singing along, enjoying great music, and meeting wonderful people. It was a true gem of an experience, and we can’t wait to return again and again. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable night...
Read moreI love this place, but I shouldn’t. The staff is lovely. Music every night. Big baby grand piano with bar stools all the way around get there early if you want to sit there. In the off season it’s incredible. During season it’s not good. So crowded it’s just one to avoid. Stop in during the off season. The owner/ bartender is one of the most wonderful person you will ever meet. Welcomes you in as if you are a family member. Piano player singer is good and gets the whole crowd singing. Movie and show tunes. But no Jazz, I am a Jazz fan. The owner however played some Great Jazz on the sound system for us because I am a Jazz fan. That is awesome!!!! My only concern is the crowd, it is truly shoulder to shoulder and if you need to pee you might have to go in the ally and relieve yourself. Yep one bathroom for the boys and girls. I have to say they keep it Neat and Clean, it shocked me when I finally got in there. With its faults, try to get in here. It is worth the effort. Just get here early and keep an open mind. I promise you will have...
