Outside the Box Business Collaborative, a Floyd and Bessie Johnson Foundation Project — Attraction in Vicksburg

Outside the Box, owned and managed by Leo Turnipseed, was hired for an $8,000 landscaping project intended for a very special occasion — the mural dedication of a 103-year-old woman who left a remarkable legacy in our community. Unfortunately, the work was not completed as agreed. Plants were not actually planted — they were left sitting in the pots they came in rather than being placed into the ground. Additionally, bags of mulch I purchased were simply set near the project area instead of being spread as paid for.

Despite paying in full, repeated attempts to have these issues corrected have been ignored. The project manager/owner has refused to address or resolve the problems. Due to the lack of communication and failure to complete the job as contracted, a civil lawsuit against both Outside the Box and Leo Turnipseed has been filed and won where he is now legally obligated to repay the $8,000 for the incomplete and improperly executed work.

His actions show a lack of moral responsibility and professional ethics, especially given the significance of this project.

I share this experience so others can be aware before hiring this company for any landscaping work.
