I had an interesting experience in visiting Edle Haus Alpaca Farm because I was both an employee working to set up a wedding for a friend, with a local established wedding producer, and a guest at the wedding. I had heard great things about this farm before my first visit: it's a beautiful property, the alpacas are adorable, and the owner John seems really passionate about making a couple's wedding a dream come true. Two of those things hold true. As you can see from the website, the property is beautiful and those fuzzy little alpacas couldn't be cuter. John, on the other hand, started out seemingly kind and turned into a monster. Although I had introduced myself to John, he referred to me as "love". Not my preference but since I was there to do a job I focused on work and didn't think much about it. When prepping the barn for the decorations we decided step one would be to clean; nothing major but some sweeping, knocking down cobwebs and, wiping tables. I suggested to my boss that a shop vacuum could really help speed up this process so I decided to ask John if he had one we could borrow. That was the wrong move. John began loudly, and sternly yelling at my boss, invading her personal space, calling her degrading names, and telling her to "shut up", even though she couldn't get a word out. We were obviously stunned by that reaction but chalked it up to stress and maybe just having a bad day. The degrading, misogynistic, sexist, snide, rude, off color, unprofessional, and mean comments and conversations only increased over the next two days of set up. Instead of this place being filled with love and excitement for our friends it became a place of stress and fear of the next time we would be scolded for a reason he created in his mind. Arriving at the wedding as a guest was pretty spectacular. Everything looked lovely and all those disrespectful scoldings seemed somehow worth it looking at all the smiling faces of friends and family. The night ran flawlessly from the dancing, the food, the speeches, and the overall wedding design. It seemed like it would be a perfect night until, the cops were called for a noise complaint and the wedding had to end quite abruptly. Considering the fact that John had promised the couple a time limitless wedding this was extremely disappointing. A noise complaint should also be considered rather odd since there are no surrounding neighbors... John looked thrilled as we scurried to pack up and get off his property. I will never go back here and I recommend all people to steer clear! There are plenty of other farms in New Jersey with beautiful grounds and adorable animals. This man is unstable and in my professional option as a special education teacher, he needs help. I sincerely...
Read moreGot there at 2pm. The Alpacas are extremely cute!! It was terribly hot so they were a bit hot. Although, friendly, the girls are definitely MORE friendly. They just come right up to you. The boys are a bit more offish but still sweet. 1 boy was hurt. I'm no specialist but his neck had a decent size cut/irritation and 1 side of his face was inflamed. Sad to see that but he seemed to be coming along ok with the rest. I only mention it because we ALL (us and the other patrons) said something to each other about it. The website states that we can feed the Alpacas and get a mini tour of the place. Well...we didn't get any food to feed them. We didn't get a tour. It was just 2 small areas to see the Alpacas. There was a young lady that was nice if you spoke to her. There was an older gentleman that kept his distance but was also nice if you spoke to him but those were the only 2. And they were offish as well. Noone interacted with us. We couldn't ask questions because they just kept away from the crowd (which there weren't many of us). When we went to the store, it was dark and noone was around to check us out so we left the store. The items in the store are expensive but worth every penny! Very cute and well made items. Wish someone was there to help us as I wanted a scarf. 2 women came and tried to find someone so they can buy their tickets but noone was to be found. They asked me and I said, "good question because I need to get the food so my grandkids can feed the Alpacas". They just went in because noone was around. 🤷🏽♀️
We really loved the alpacas but if you're driving far (like we did 1 1/2hrs) it's not worth it. Even if it's free! Had they interacted with the groups and explained things or answered questions or even been around to help with a purchase, it would've made this experience 100%. But just to see the Alpacas themselves...it was too hot, they were hot, and nothing else to do or see. So...I would say it's a good attraction for locals or people a lot closer to the area. But Alpacas are REALLY adorable! Maybe a better time for everyone when it's fall or spring. When weather is delightful for everyone?...
Read moreThis farm is lack of hospitality. They might be nice to some but there are times that they're not. My 18 months old baby, me and granny went out for a weekend to see their cute alpacas. We walked closer to the pets and the woman who stood up in the gate, talked to other visitors inside the fence, then she look at us. When those people left, that woman which I think is one of the owner, said to us "Do you wanna get in?" I said yes. She let us go inside the fence with the alpacas (they're eating and a little distant to us), then she left. No introduction, no further instructions or cautions, no other words. She just left. After we took some photos, we walked out, then John the owner greeted and gave some nice few words while were exiting. We drive far to have fun and get to know the main attraction of their farm (the alpacas), we did not come just to sit down on their wide, well maintained green land. 5 stars for the alpacas but two stars...
