Well...its not the worst place I've stayed at in the Wall/Neptune/Belmar area (avoid the Roadway Inn at all costs), but its definitely toward the bottom. With that being said, the only reason that it gets more than one star is that the guy behind the desk, as creepy as he was, was friendly and willing to accommodate us on short notice at around midnight. I frequently come to the area from New England on short notice, so it isn't always easy to find someplace on a Saturday night at the last minute. The rooms are dated and definitely needed some help. There were no bugs seen during our stay, and the sheets were clean, however they looked like they have seen better days and they had cigarette burns on them in a non-smoking room. There was also burns on the carpet and cigarette butts behind the night stand. The cleaning lady should probably be fired. The room had obviously been vacuumed, but the furniture was never moved when this was done so there was dirt at dust behind and under everything. There was a used bar of soap still in the shower, and the fridge and microwave were pretty gross. The toilet paper holder was screwed to the side of the bathtub which I found pretty odd. It would get the TP wet when you showered. The highlights of the stay where the sign at the front desk that said that they do not do hourly rentals/rates (made us laugh), the ice machine cut into the outside wall, and the gentleman we witnesses saying good-bye and exchanging money with what I would assume was a hooker in the parking lot the next morning (no lie). There is a nice little diner across the street that is open till 2am for late night snacks and the motel shares a parking lot with a Perkins, so breakfast is an easy walk around the building. If you need a cheap place to lay your head for a few hours before getting back on the road then this place will work, but don't expect anything more than that. If i stay here again, it won't...
Read moreTried to stay here a few years ago when I was facing homelessness. The place was absolutely filthy and unsound. The place on the outside is rundown and looks like a dump. Inside is even worse. Old locks on doors constantly malfunction and lock you inside of room with the door keys not working on the first, second, or third attempt to leave the room. Filth, grime, mildew, and bed bugs everywhere. As soon as I started unloading my luggage the insects started coming out from all areas in the room attacking and infesting my belongings. I could barely control water temperature in the mildew-infested shower and my skin was burned red. Guests next door were loud and constantly banging on the walls and making a ton of noise. Wifi connection was unstable and weak and an old television from the 90's didn't work properly and only received a few clear channels. Checked out the following morning and demanded a refund for the remainder of the week. They complied with the partial refund but denied everything that I am revealing in this review which is odd because of how obvious this place is in need of demolition or dire repair. I had to throw away personal items that were destroyed by the insects as I was leaving the property. Because of lack a of availability of affordable motels during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the area I wound up spending the next few weeks living inside of my car. Ironically staying in my car wound up being a safer and cleaner temporary solution until a winter rental eventually...
Read moreLet me be clear, I was not staying here. My son and his he were staying for about 3 weeks. Their room had to be changed 3 times due to roaches in the first one. I personally thru 3 bombs in that room and 5 hours later there were still live bugs. 2nd room 2 days after first, no roaches, lots of bedbugs. My son's he had to scrub the whole room as it was never cleaned. She used bleach and the people complained! We were in the middle of the pandemic when they came to there door about 2 to 3 days after the bleach and were told they would have to move to yet, another room. There were renovations starting the next day which they failed to mention upon putting them in that room. The 1/4 size bathroom is so small and so dangerous. My son had to sit sideways on the toilet as he was too tall, ha, he's 5 foot 9, are they kidding!!!.? Stay away if you are allergic to cats or dogs and beware of the smell of wet dog constantly. Ask if you can see their vacuum and I promise this should have been emptied months ago. I'm pretty sure that this place will be seeing the board of health...
