Can one phone call drastically change the quality of life? Yes, that is what happened for my 98 year old mom. This is her story. Not being sure of what assisted living was even about, what questions would i ask when I called Brandywine? Kristen answered, so kind listening & connected me with Allison O'Brien, Dir. Community Relations. Her compassion shined through with a sweet, calming presence in her voice. Aly told me about the daily living/health care services offered. She was so knowledgeable & reached out to Keith Harper, the Exec Dir. He was wonderful in presenting a tentative studio apt & healthcare plan. There was never any pressure of making a decision ASAP. Just an assurance of a safe place when the time was right. Touring with my daughters we experienced the warm welcome of the Concierge desk, friendly, cheerful voices of all staff. The joy & spunk of the Residents though just said it all! It was affirmation of the outstanding care they were receiving in this family oriented community. That was most important! I felt a sense of relief believing mom would benefit from Brandywine. She deserved to spend the rest of her years happy & safe. She had lost that twinkle in her eyes, sense of humor, the desire to get dressed. Her friends were all gone, she sat watching TV. Unable to cook losing interest in eating most days. Daily medication reminders needed. She was depressed, lonely and sad. Truly the time for a recharge. Mom toured the facility, so impressed with it's beauty and cleanliness. Joyful that the residents were friendly in meeting her. She enjoyed the live music & staff. It was a great couple of hours! Mom moved in two weeks ago. While at home she never wanted me to leave. I went early the day after she moved in, a bit worried she might be homesick. She said "why are you here"? I love it here, It is so peaceful. I sit & look at my beautiful apartment & can't believe it is mine. The staff are all so caring, the food is delicious. I see such friendly faces. I am so happy, everyone talks to me. I cannot say enough about every single staff member I have met so far. They ALL not only treat your loved one like family, they became our family. Having the biggest hearts full of compassion, respect, patience, understanding, sincerity, joy & sense of humor. Each going out of their way to make a positive difference in your loved one's life. I am forever grateful to Keith and Aly who made this possible. No amount of questions are too many. You return texts and phone calls ASAP. The Concierge Staff, Kristen, Carmel and Donna, so sweet and helpful, filled with knowledge. Your love shines through, thank you. The Nursing staff caring for mom, Helen Henn, Wellness Dir., Deanna and Diana. It is just the best knowing mom is receiving her daily meds when scheduled and looked after with expertise. All of the caring, lovely, patient, beautiful Assistants Josephine, Tina, Fortune, Ann that have helped her in every way possible from assisting her to attend meals, activities, showering, to doing her laundry, picking out her coordinated outfits and jewelry. You listen to her & display such love. Giovanna's heart is bursting with compassion as well. Jessica Easton, Escapades who has gone above & beyond since move in day. Not only made sure my mom would be aware of the awesome activities she schedules, but, changed hats assembling two important much needed items for mom. Wendy, invited mom to join her Rummikub game with lovely resident, Betty on night one. It was delightful & a most kind of welcome! Linda is always smiling when leading activities so much fun too! Jake, in Maintenance is great. Painting her apt, installing curtain rods & drapery. He is there to repair & assist with a smile. Thank you to Irene & Housekeeping for such a spotless facility. Joseph Pannullo, Dir of Dining Services & his wait staff prepare and serve the most delicious meals, desserts & Happy Hour snacks with delight. Tony Norberg Dir of Trans drives the van to appts, outings, cheers on & encouraging Residents all by name. He makes...
Read moreWhen it became apparent that out mother could no longer remain in her home of over 30 years, my brothers, sisters and I began looking for the best place for her to relocate. We visited several assisted living residences near her home so she could stay close to her friends and activities. Ultimately, together with her, we chose Brandywine Living in Wall Township. This turned out to be a perfect fit for many reasons. Close proximity to my sister was indeed one but most importantly was how easily mom integrated into the residence and it became home. Because of the open embrace by the staff she never felt like “the new kid in school.” She participated in many of the activities and outings and made new friends quickly. As her health began to fail, we knew that she was in the care of compassionate professionals who would treat her with respect and dignity. Moreover, we knew that they would keep us apprised of any changes. My sister visited every day with her dog and they knew what that meant to my mother. When we called to check on her, we were never treated like we were inconveniencing anybody, it was more like our call and our mother were the most important thing at that time. In her last days, mom continued to be treated with dignity and respect by the entire staff. My sister and I too were treated with kindness and compassion beginning at the main lobby by the office staff, through the bistro and the dining room by the servers, and by all of the caregivers and nurses in the Refection’s unit. Keith Harper and Allie O’Brien should be commended for the residence they manage. We NEVER second guessed our choice of Brandywine in Wall and are thankful that mom’s last year was spent in a clean, caring,...
Read moreMy Mom has been at the wall assisted living facility (the dementia floor) for two years now and in the beginning it was a huge adjustment for her and me. Gradually as we all worked together as a team to help me, my Mom became more content and happier. The head butler, Giovanna, has been phenomenal in every aspect of taking care and giving extra attention daily to my Mom. She is Amazing and extremely compassionate and loving with all the residents. My Mom was being extremely hard to deal with, but all the staff were very caring, helpful and patient with her. Working to get my Mom's meds adjusted took many months, but eventually she began to relax and has been much more calmer and adapting to environment. The head nurse, Helen, has been very efficient and most helpful with any issues we have encountered. My Mom's caretakers have also been caring, patient and they do their job out of genuine love for their patients. I visit a lot and each time everyone is pleasant to me as well as making a point to greet my Mom with a friendly hello & smile. The Activity leaders, John and Amanda are fabulous. They organize awesome events and work hard to keep the residents happy and smiling. Keith and Alison have been extremely helpful and go over and above to meet the needs of each family and show concern for any issues you might have. The staff at Brandywine at Wall are hard working and they truly go out of their way to try and make everyday a special one for the residents. I Feel Blessed to...
