The park has so much potential. From what I can tell the ball diamonds are very nice and there is so much room and open space. I love the walking path for walking, running, and biking with the family. However, the condition of the playground is embarrassing and needs immediate attention. My wife and I went down there last night with our kids (ages 7,2,1). The slides are literally boarded up and the equipment is old and rusty. Our two year old had fun throwing rocks for about 20 minutes when we started walking around and noticed sparkles in the rocks. Turns out someone had broken glass and it had worked it’s way through the entire playground area. My wife and I walked around for about 30 minutes and got about 5 handfuls of glass out of the rocks where our children were playing. I’m not happy that this is the condition of our biggest and otherwise nicest park. This is the worst equipment of any park locally that I’ve been to. It is a shame for our town and not safe for our children.
Revising review two years later: I’m increasing my review from 2 to 4 stars. Some improvements have been made. Ball diamond fences have been painted and look really nice, there is a new slide and some new benches at the park. Overall the playground equipment should still be replaced to match the offerings from other parks around town and surrounding towns. They painted it but it’s still not great. Nice clean park with kids playground, clean public restrooms, approximate 1.1 mile paved and partially shaded path, baseball fields, soccer fields, multiple shelterhouses and is even used for middle school and high school cross country meets. There's something here...
