Visited the Armstrong Air & Space museum for the first time. I have to say that it was a very nice museum with a lot of artifacts related to Neil Armstrong and the trip to the moon. They had a real Gemini space capsule and numerous space suits related to Armstrong. I liked the layout, circular in nature and easy to see everything, including a real moon rock. And there was a video on America's race to the moon which was quite good and informative. I can go on and on about the museum but all I can really say is I enjoyed it quite a bit. And there was a gift shop to boot. A great place to stop by, right at the interstate 75 so if you're heading North towards Detroit or South towards Cincinnati it is worth the stop. Price wise, it was worth the $10 (adult price). My daughter, if she were with me would have enjoyed this museum. While there I noticed a large group of kids come through... So a school trip here would be quite good. And south of here in Dayton is the US Air Force Museum, another museum which may have some of the rockets and space capsules, but it lacks the nice small feel that this museum has. You can spend a good hour at the least here to...
Read moreI was driving north on Interstate 75 between Cincinnati and Toledo and decided to take a break and visit the Neil Armstrong Air and Space Museum in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The museum is located right off the Interstate and is an easy on, easy off stop. There is plenty of free parking and while you are walking from the parking lot to the museum be sure to stop at the NASA Trainer and a Lear Jet that is on display. During my July 2025 visit senior admission (60+) was $12, Visitors under 60 pay a dollar more. The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum highlights the life of Neil Armstrong from his birth near Wapakoneta to becoming the first man to walk on the surface of the moon. The museum has a number of his personal artifacts along with artifacts from his career as an astronaut including rocks he collected from the surface of the moon. I enjoyed talking with Jerry, one of the volunteer/historians who are available throughout the Museum. All total I spent a little more than 90 minutes touring the museum. If you are into history, especially space history then this museum is well...
Read moreA great place to spend the day with the kids or grandkids of all ages.
Plan on spending the bare minimum of 4 hours in order to explore everything on display as you make your way from one hanger to the next.
To see everything on display without feeling rushed, kid's bathroom visits, eating, gift shop, and due to the amount of walking being done, feet and legs will appreciate or may require allowing time for 15 minute breaks as needed or several times during the day.
6 hours would be ideal. Allowing time to explore all there is to see, explain things to the kids, tackle their questions. examine the many pieces and parts that make up each aircraft and read the unique information and history provided. Provides plenty of time to rest the feet when they start aching by the time you start on the 4th hanger.
Even taking your time and being thorough, when you visit again even if it's a week after your last visit.therw will always be something that...
