The absolute worst customer experience we have ever received and on top of it all, i just received a call from their manager. He wanted to try to charge us an additional $75 for towels that we were forced to use to cleanup vomit from my sick son. We asked for help, we asked for rags and cleaning spray, they gave me one little rag. We were left on our own and prior to this, we were also left on our own to clean up the flooding toilet that no one wanted to address. In fact, I was left on my own, to find a wrench and then use it to stop the toilet from over flowing into the hallway, and then into our newly assigned room. We should actually be getting a call for a credit. We cleaned our own mess, we were forced to stop the running toilet in our room, as the maintenance guy was off. (He did come later on to help, which was after we were able to get the running toilet to stop over-flowing into our room). Tina was welcoming at first but then didn't want to deal with us at all for the rest of our stay. We had someone who told us earlier that they actually didn't work at the hotel, then knock on our door and tell us to go down and clean up a "mess" that we had left behind after mourning our loss. We gladly went and cleaned everything up. Why would a non-employee ever knock on a guests door and enforce action on behalf of the hotel? Overall, stay away from this place . The Holiday Inn Express across the street is a much better option, then I would look into Air B&B, and if still nothing available, Lima is only 10 minutes away and there are plenty of quality hotel options to choose from before ever considering this particular Best Western location.
In response to the message below from the Team at Wapakoneta Inn, I agree that Hotels aren't in the habit of calling guests and charging them $75, this is what makes your hotel so special! Low rent hotels are in the business of nickle-and-diming their guests however. I failed to mention above that our group had 9 other rooms booked for these nights. We paid this hotel fairly for our stay. The entire group is outraged by this incident and are prepared to join in the fun here and leave their reviews of their stay. Do you really want 9 more 1 star reviews? How about this, accept the fact that a toilet should be able to handle a 30lb dog feces as I am a 300 lb human, and the toilet managed to take mine just fine. How about the fact that it was 5 degrees and the water pipes might have not have been functioning correctly due to extreme low temps or maybe it was something else, but my little 30 lb dog, who I paid an additional $20/night to have stay with us, was NOT the problem here. Please make your comment make sense! The majority of humans that stay in your dump take much larger dumps than little dogs. We didn't try to hide anything. We weren't aware that the toilet was over flowing until the water made its way to the bed. Again, tremendous customer service blaming this on your paying guests, who again were in town for a family funeral. Zero empathy and Zero willingness to help us just hours after we had to lay our loved one to rest. HORRIFIC!!!!! I will be reporting this to the BBB, to your corporate offices, and to the local Wapak authorities. We will also be reversing all charges from the Best Western effective...
Read moreI rarely award a 5-star rating to a chain hotel, saving that for some glitzy, over-the top, jaw-dropping hotel in glamorous destinations. But this place earned the rating for being outstanding in location, cleanliness and hospitality. ||This was just for one night because we wanted to stop to see the Armstrong Air and Space Museum. Usually Wapakoneta is too close to home (4 hours), and too far away from our destination, so it doesn't warrant an overnight stay. The convenience of location this time couldn't have been easier - right on the same Lunar Drive as the Museum, just off I-75. You could see the exit from our window, though there was no highway noise. ||Based on our loyalty to Best Western, we were given an upgrade from a King to an Executive King room. It was a lovely change, even though we sure didn't need that much room for the two of us, with a planned early start the next day. Both check-in and check-out were polite and efficient. Parking was easy. ||We had the included breakfast - similar to the usual hotel standard breakfasts, but we enjoyed both the food items and the comfortable dining area provided. The Wi-Fi was fast and dependable. Our room had excellent bedding and linens, with extras in the closet. Of course, there was the usual fridge and microwave, desk, a good-size TV and an iron/board. We most appreciated the sofa and chair with coffee table so that we could eat our take-out meal in comfort. There was adequate lighting in the room and a good number of plugs. The ice machine was handy. ||Having the complimentary local newspaper was a very nice touch. ||Great stay, highly recommended. It wouldn't happen without motivated managers and personnel. If we stay again, we will be sure to try a few of the other features provided at...
Read moreMy issues at this hotel have as much to do with BestWestern Corporate as with the hotel. Attempted to book online through Best Western's site. After selecting dates the site automatically changed the dates to several weeks later. Had to correct four times before the site accepted the correct dates. The site then offered a discount (visit the site, there is a bar at the top offering a discount for booking now) but once selected it would not proceed. Had to start over and forget the date changing issue several more times. Finally booked the right dates (no discount rate) after multiple tries.
Arrived at the hotel only to discover they had the dates wrong (showed my arrival and departure dates one day earlier than booked). I explained the issue but management at the hotel could not have cared less. The hotel charged for the day prior to my arrival and charged an extra day for the day I had planned to depart. No discussion, no discount, no credit.... nothing. Just "pay for an extra day and like it" attitude.
I contacted Best Western customer service where I was informed Best Western does not refund room charges for any reason. Even though I explained the issue with the website changing dates the response from customer service was "that is your problem, not ours" and "you should not have booked the room without verifying the date". How is a consumer supposed to verify the date when the website shows it is correct but the reservation system changes it.
Overall, neither this hotel or Best Western (the chain) seem interested in anything except finding ways to overcharge. There are other chains and other hotels that care about customers, this one and this chain do not. Stay...
