I didn't get to stay long to learn the history end take good photos because of some nearby gunfire that took place. I visited because I heard it was historic but no one told me the neighborhood wasn't the safest. I feel like at least the officers should have told me and my son to be careful when I asked for directions when deciding to walk from the train station. I suggest that if you are a tourist you should drive there and not walk and to be careful.

It was AMAZING to see the Big Chair still standing. I grew up in DC and remember going to that furniture store with my mom. It was a very nostalgic moment for me to see that chair and the fact that it is now a Historical Landmark is wonderful! Thank you for preserving the Big Chair!

The big chair is a historical landmark for Washingtonians in Southeast DC. It is a treasure for the residents to see, adore, and admire! We love it! Southeast would NOT be the same without it!

I visited the foot center at the professional building affectionately known as the big chair because of the giant sized chair that sits at front of the building. Dr. Khalid is a wonderful podiatrist. I have been a patient with him for ten plus years. He's very kind and professional and is concerned of your well being. I appreciate him and I'm pleased to have him for all my foot care needs. Thank...

This is what it sounds like: a big chair. According to the sign it's the biggest chair in the world. It's big enough to be a stage for Chuck Brown, who performed on it when it was unveiled.

Surprisingly, it's pretty easy to pass without even noticing. After all, who's expecting a big chair in the corner of the parking lot for a run-down...
