About 2 years ago I reviewed this award winning bbq spot in Uptown D.C. Well they got a spot on the South Side!! So I’m definitely siced (excited) about hittin this jont (restaurant). LET’S GO!! . Where I am: @dcitysmokehouse . Location Reviewed: 1301 Good Hope Rd., S.E. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: Brisket, Wings, Ribs, Craft Sandwiches, Half Smokes, Rib Tips, Pulled Pork, Turkey Breast, Sides, Cocktails, & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Smokehouse Melt (with brisket, cheddar-Jack cheese, & jerk bbq sauce $14). LIKE THAT!! Well smoked brisket, meaty, buttery toast, & a STAMPED Jerk bbq sauce!! Their DCity Halfsmoke (a halfsmoke sausage, brisket chili, cheddar Jack, red onions, & yellow mustard $12). STAMP!! The BEST Halfsmoke I’ve ever had!! Juicy, spicy, topped with BRISKET, & it snapped!! Their Smoked Wings Combo (1/2 dozen with baked beans, bbq sauce, & cilantro ranch $17). STAMP!! Perfect Lu smoked with a savory dry rub, & STAMPED sauces!! Their BBQ Sampler Platter (with 1/2 lb.brisket, 1/2 lb, Rib tips, Jalapeño Mac n Cheese, & Spicy Collard Greens $33). STAMP the tips, & brisket. Both smoky, & tender!! The Jalapeno Mac…DECENT!! Spicy…I just needed a different blend of cheeses. The Spicy Collards…STAMP!! Hearty, spicy, full of flavor!! The Baked Beans…LIKE THAT!! SPICY, savory, tasty!! Their Mango Madness (with mango juice, & a mango bourbon $12.50). STAMP!! Sweet, strong…this will DEFINITELY get you lit!! . Online Navigation: Easy . Customer Service: On Point . Parking: Rough. . Recommendations: The proteins, the Halfsmoke, the drinks, & greens. . With accolades of being among the “best BBQ” spots in the D.C. area, this location in Anacostia is their second in the city. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 12-8 p.m., I picked up takeout around 6 p.m. on a Friday evening. Here’s our experience. 1) Food: The menu is full of items from smoked wings to ribs to pulled pork sandwiches. They also have twelve different sides. The pulled pork sandwich was tasty and has the right ratio of slaw to meat. It comes with BBQ sauce in a small container. The Mac and cheese is good, but wasn’t as spicy as I had hoped considering there are jalapeños in it. The baked beans were great! They are not runny at all, but rather very thick. 2) Drinks: They have a refrigerator with bottles of Coca-Cola. 3) Service: The staff were super friendly and efficient. There are two cash registers and one person who makes the food. 4) Space: There are four high top tables that sit four each and a few stools at the front window. There’s one unisex restroom in the back.

Walked in and were greeted immediately. Ordered the ribs and wings combo with the fried brussel sprouts. Received about 6 wings and 3 ribs. If you like smoked meat this was smoked pretty good. Also had the DCity half smoke which is absolutely DELICIOUS!! My husband had the BBQ sandwich (pulled pork) with coleslaw, hush puppies and added another side of fries. This total was about $70. Overall I would recommend this establishment. All the food was good and they weren't busy. I'm not sure if it's because they are new to SE or just the timing that I went. But customer service good, food good and establishment clean.

I recently visited a restaurant that I found to be quite disappointing. The food was just okay, but the prices were outrageous for the tiny portions they served.. After spending nearly $170, I left feeling unsatisfied, primarily due to the dreadful customer service.

After a long drive, I was eager to find a good BBQ spot and this place seemed convenient on our route back home. When I walked in, my daughter and I didn’t feel welcome, the cashier was glued to her phone and completely ignored me. I had to say “hello” just to get her to acknowledge me, she mumbled a half-hearted “hi” without even looking up, which I found off-putting.

I tried to engage with her, asking about popular side dishes since it was my first visit. Instead of a friendly response, she acted as if my questions were a nuisance, providing curt answers. Every question I asked was met with short, snappy answers. When I inquired about regular fries, she acted like I was speaking a different language. I was ordering a substantial amount of food, and her rude attitude made the experience unbearable.

Also; when my daughter needed to use the restroom, I asked the cashier for directions. She simply confirmed there was a bathroom but didn’t offer any guidance. I had to reiterate my request, and then she insisted my daughter wait until I completed my order to unlock the bathroom door.

I was so fed up that I confronted her about her attitude, and she just muttered something in Spanish to her coworkers. I responded in Spanish, expressing that her rudeness was unacceptable. When I finally paid, I had to ask for a receipt, as she didn’t provide one, as she decided not to deal with me.

Overall, this place is a disaster. The staff needs serious training in customer service. I wish I had read the bad reviews before deciding to go here. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and skip...

I had an incredibly disappointing experience with DCity Smokehouse. I first called on May 31 to book their food truck for an event and the catering manager told me he’d call back to confirm availability. He followed up the next day, assured me the truck was available, said I was added to the calendar and that I’d receive an email confirmation. I received the email and responded confirming all the details we covered on the phone and asked for a slight change to the menu —all of this was documented via email.

A full week passed and I received no confirmation, despite following up via email. When I still hadn’t heard back, I decided to visit in person. That’s when I was told, after the manager retrieved and printed my email thread that they gave my date to DC Water and could no longer accommodate my event. So basically they wanted to do the job that would generate more money. I am not made at this but at least give me a call saying he we double booked by "accident."

This was not only unprofessional but completely unacceptable. Had I not shown up in person, I would have had 90 guests and no food truck. There was no communication, no apology, and no attempt to correct the mistake. I cannot recommend working with a company that handles...
