I went today with my son Ghassan to this Caribbean restaurant in South East Washington D.C . We ordered Chicken Curry , and Jerk Chicken ..The food was good . These two sides shouldn't mixed with the main dish . I suggest that some Caribbean drinks such as Hibiscus should also offered . The owner was friendly . I will visit this restaurant more often when I come to Washington , D.C

I ordered 2 veggie patties and a mango smoothie. It was a longer than expected wait, a little pricey, but my smoothie came with optional whip cream topping free of charge. I opted in. I’d go back for the same order. There were flyers by the window with local events/businesses. No phone orders.

Ordered 2 veggie patties and a coco bread on my lunch break. The patties that were ready were overcooked so he said new ones would take 10 min. I spent 25 minutes and they still weren't ready. Wasted my lunch break and still didn't eat.Got a refund. Plus why is coco bread $4?! NEVER AGAIN!

There's no restaurant in DC with more soul an flavor than Caribbean Citations. The moment you pull up and see the most friendly, gregarious man grilling some meat in the back, you know you've stumbled upon a gem. Just off of historic Anacostia, this joint has been around for years. Here's what to love:

  1. Quirks- It's quirky. From the posters on the wall, to the TV screens, to the fact that if you bring in a parking ticket and get a discount, this place has character. A fan favorite is their monthly raffle. In addition to discounts if you show a parking ticket, they also enter you into a raffle. If you win, they pay your parking ticket. That is gold in a city reliant on parking tickets to generate income.

  2. Service- The staff are so friendly and deeply care and feel connected to the community they serve. If it's your first time, they are so patient with you and treat you like a respectable human being.

  3. Food- I am not a huge fan of Caribbean food, but if you are, there's no better place in DC. People love their goat curry and they even have a few salad options for people more health conscious.

If you like a down to earth dining experience, grab takeout here. Oh, there are a few window seats, but most people order...

I have been driving past this place for so many years and finally decided to try it what a let-down the food was horrible the chicken was dry there was no seasoning the rice and peas was not good and the carrots and cabbage taste like it was a little oily I ordered jerk chicken rice and peas /cabage. I couldn't taste any jerk seasoning it wasn't cooked on a grill like I was used to and my jerk sauce came in a little container the food wasn't prepared in the jerk sauce you had to add it 😜I'm really not used to that I guess it's my fault because this place didn't say authentic Caribbean food I try to support all black people businesses but I can't support this if you're used to real authentic Caribbean food this is not the place that you want to go thumbs down 👎👎what a let-down😞 they should be given a citation for selling this stuff i couldn't even give it away...

I love to support local/small businesses but I would have to start by saying the lady at the counter wasn’t even wearing a hair net and she kept on touching her hair. The beef patties are so expensive $4 each nonetheless I got 4. They tasted okay. I also bought the rum cake $4.50 for a tiny slice which was ok as well. The coco bread was ok.

I got oxtail, rice n peas n cabbage. Oh my word! The food was 19.99 and it was so disgusting. The rice wasn’t cooked and it was so soggy! The cabbage 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️. I’m African and I can make better oxtail n rice and peas than what I got at a Jamaican food place.

I also got the curry goat with plantains 19.99 as well. Oh boy all I can say is was pretty nasty! The curry tasted so strange.

In total I spent almost $70 here n threw out all the food expect the beef patties n cake....
