I found CFSA because I was searching for a really skilled personal trainer. I'm fifty and have serious shoulder issues from a past injury (my shoulder bones were put back together with calcium screws - it was bad and still isn't great, but I want to make the most of what I can do). I've been searching for a really skilled trainer (a hard find these days) and after trying several other trainers in the area and working with physical therapists, I came to CFSA and met Deonte. His level of knowledge and desire to help me regain mobility and use of my bad shoulder, as well helping me work on my other challenges, has been nothing short of amazing. After training with Deonte for a couple of months, I was making a lot of progress on my limitations and I wanted to start regular classes - something I was sure was out of reach when I walked in the door. In retrospect, it really wasn't.
All of the coaches have been wonderful in helping me scale workouts to my limitations and fitness level. They offer a lot of advice and instruction which is particularly helpful for newer members. I surprise myself regularly in how far I've come. The community is warm and welcoming and surprisingly diverse in age and fitness level.
I cannot recommend CFSA highly enough whether you're an experienced crossfitter looking for a box, or you have physical limitations, extra weight, or more years than you care to own up to. This is a great place to...
Read moreI joined Brazen in September of 2022. This was after years of being “afraid” of doing CrossFit.
I had worked with a coach who trained me on CrossFit moves, etc and he was amazing. But that was my comfort zone. Just me and the coach and I was good.
My fear was group classes. In order for me to grow, I scheduled a “no sweat” session at Brazen.
As soon as I walked into Brazen - I truly felt like I was home again. Elise met with me and walked me through everything and before I left I signed up.
My first class was with Maddie - she introduced herself and made me feel comfortable with being there. The athletes also introduced themselves and that made me even more comfortable with my decision.
I used to think how can the coaches see and coach all of in a group. That was disproven time and time again. The coaches are focused on the athletes and do watch us and ensure we are comfortable with the movements and ensure we do not injure ourselves. The coaches and athletes here are so amazing and supportive. I do not regret training here.
If there was advice I could offer anyone who is on the fence about joining and doing CrossFit is to just meet with them. Do not take as long as I did to make the decision to join - you will...
Read moreI joined this gym for one month only, to "get my butt in gear". I liked the workouts and my beginning-level trainer. However, I did not like the way this gym was managed. The owner charged me after my one month was over--for month Two...something I had NOT signed up for--and insisted that this is what I had signed up for. If it was not for the email chain that I retained that expressed the desire for PRECISELY one month's membership, then I would have had to take them to small claims court to get my money back.
I thought that all was over after I got my refund three weeks later.
However, on the start of month TWO of membership end, it happened AGAIN. I could not believe this when I logged in and saw this on my bank account. This totaled $400 taken from me--without permission--and at a time when I needed to pay my rent. It took ANOTHER three weeks to get my money back, and this did NOT even cover a bounced check fee that I incurred over this time.
I still retain the paperwork that I signed when starting my Crossfit classes. NOWHERE on it does it state that ANY membership is assumed infinitum.
What do you think this is--a Bally's? Twice bit, twice shy. Stay away. (This place is also much more expensive than...
