AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!!
I have lived on 5 of the 7 continents on this planet and this was by far the worst customer service experience I have ever had.
I was getting ready to move back to the US from Germany. I was looking for something fully furnished and found this and quickly booked it as I was busy with all of the moving stuff that I had. 24 hours later, I get an email asking me to check in online. I click the link and they are asking me to upload numerous personal documents as well as a picture of my credit card. I did not feel comfortable checking in this way, so I called them and asked to check in, in-person. They told me that unless I checked in online, they were going to cancel my reservation and keep my money. I was dumbfounded. I could not believe this was what I was hearing. I had no choice but to keep my reservation because after talking with numerous CS people (all who were completely useless) , they told me the reservation was non-refundable and that I could cancel but they would keep the money.
So after being bullied to supply them all of my personal information as well as all of my credit card information online, my reservation was made. Or at least I thought. I got no emails or any feedback, so I assumed it was all good. 24 hours before I left Germany, I called just to verify. GUESS WHAT?!? The reservation was not complete because they were missing some information that they still needed. Thanks for letting me know. Good thing I was pro-active and reached out. After once again, uploading MORE personal documents and information onto the internet, they finally confirmed the reservation.
Finally, I have arrived at the place that I don't want to stay and I am greeted with a broken phone in the room (kind of important for the land line to work when you move from overseas as you have no cell service) AND really bad water pressure. Like, we were taking showers from the sink as it was easier. After waiting for 4 days, the water pressure issues was finally fixed...and the phone still doesn't work (probably to this day). The CS rep they had on site acted like I was interrupting their personal time when I asked for the phone to be fixed They just told me to use my cell phone.
After living overseas for 4 years straight, I was looking forward to coming back to the US and enjoying my home country for some time. The whole experience just made the homecoming feel very bad and the appalling way this company treated it customers was unacceptable.
Once again, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are not flexible, not helpful, and frankly, overcharge for...
Read more30-years of travel experience-- Global is the armpit of all of my worse travel experiences combined. I booked my reservation using a third-party travel agent. The terms and conditions of my booking were spelled out on the invoice. I gave proper notice of a change to the reservation, after the initial booking, and before a default triggered. Global danced and did not honor the terms and conditions of notice on my invoice by the third-party. When I researched their reasoning even further and provided additional documentation as evidence they were in breach of Global's very own terms and conditions concerning third-party notice of the same Global doubled-down and placed blame with the third-party. The third-party placed blame with Global. As the customer I found this unreasonable and I continued to dispute this issue without resolution. Nonetheless I arrived to begin my family vacation at Global and it was given ample notice of a late arrival. I was provided notice by Global that all was in proper order and that I would check-in with the Concierge, my 2 bedroom luxury suite key would be transferred and to enjoy my stay. Well, I arrived only to be met by an extremely rude and uninformed Concierge staff worker who could not find my key, could not contact any Global billing dept personnel to remedy the issue and ultimately I was without a reservation in Arlington, VA with wife and kids. This caused stress, discomfort, and anxiety at the outset of our family vacation. Staff at the hotel did nothing to remedy the problem, offered no apology, and ultimately I was left with having to make other living arrangements. Global retained my nearly $800 and I am filing a fraud complaint with my bank credit card service provider, a Consumer protections complaint with the State of Virginia Attorney General's Office directed at Global, and because my weekend visit with the family was ruined I will be filing a civil action claim for damages. This is why I reference Global as the armpit of all my worse travel experiences .... As a consumer there was little info I could rely on concerning Global's business practices or conduct. I hope this review helps others as I stamp it...
Read moreI booked a room with this property in South Arlington for three weeks for a scheduled upcoming government training via another online travel site. Unfortunately my family house (inhabited by my elderly mother) in Florida experienced tremendous water damage due to effects of Hurricane Irma (a Category 5 Hurricane) -- due to this dramatic natural disaster, I was forced to pull out of the training in order to take leave and assist my family during this unprecedented time of need. I immediately contacted the online travel site to cancel my booking, but was directed to deal with the Global Luxury staff directly. When I reached out and called the company directly, the staff member I dealt with (who had a thick British accent) seemed not only uninformed about the storm and the level of impact and devastation along the Florida coast but was uncaring and unsympathetic of my family situation and was quick to say that I would surely be charged a 10% cancellation fee (equating to $500) even though this was related to a natural disaster and the notice was given more than three weeks in advance. In fact, the representative (who has the title of Billing Coordinator) claimed that because we had given too much notice the company would most assuredly charge me the full cancellation fee. My wife and I both subsequently followed up the discussion by emailing the coordinator asking to speak to a supervisor or their claims department directly to explain the situation. She did respond and promised to relay the situation to the claims department, but then promptly stopped returning our subsequent attempts to contact her. Overall a thoroughly negative experience with what seems to be a foreign run corporation that cares only about their profit margin and not about their customers. I highly advise that you seek out other options in the Arlington area as there are many better ones to...
