There are quite a few monuments scattered around the Dupont Circle neighbourhood including the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial situated in the small green space found at the intersection of Q. St. NW, Massachusetts NW. and 21st Street., just in front of the India Embassy.
This is a life sized bronze of Gandhi, who is consider the Father of the nation (India) and spiritual leader who played a major role in India's pursuit of independence from the British Empire.
Here you see elderly Gandhi, dressed in sandals and covered in basic cloth, a common image of Gandhi from his later years of life. His walking with the aid of a walking stick and looks fatigued. If you get close, you can see the age in his hands and upper body. Gandhi is standing on a granite base with engraving and information about the statue.
