Learn moreTook the Under(world) tour. It not what it says it is
,My 14 year old and I went on your Under(world) tour at DuPont Underground based on the page description we were expecting a ghost tour while seeing the art of the Underground. You don't see any of the art.
When we arrived to check in, the actors are up beat and funny as we were ask who we'd come to see (implied ghost). We saw may cause emotional distress and agreed (Now I know why they have everyone look you in the eyes and nod in agreement as that basically a agreement so we can't get money back or sue). But that was kept light and fun. So we were ready for fun
But when we entered everything change to dark & depressing the telephone messages that describe your death are way over the top, as my 14 year old got the one about the 17 year old that basically drowned himself, over grade /stuff, which that scenario hit close to my 14 year old world, so my 14 year old was very upset and freaked out which I didn't realize until after tour. If we'd of known it was this we would of never brought tickets. As we'll have to deal with this for weeks to come
After, we got back to hotel, my 14 year old went to leave review and it hyperlinked him to an online counseling page, so you know it's over the top and can emotionally harm people. Shame on them.
They need to make description more accurate and put minimum age to...
Read moreThere's a lot of positive things you can say about Dupont Underground. It's in the heart of the city. It has a fascinating history. It's unique. It's innovative. It's celebrating local art. It gives us DC locals something more to do.
However, my wife and I were disappointed by the execution of the first exhibit: Raize/Rase. It cost $15 per person for an hour of walking around the exhibit. If you're sans kids, it may only take you 10-15 minutes. It's very small and many of the ball cubes are broken (Expect to break one or two cubes accidentally as you build your own creation). It's unique, but there just isn't much to see and you may quickly become bored of making your own creation.
Again, it's unique and I'm curious to see what other exhibits they bring in, but for the first exhibit, I'd save $15 ($16+ including tax) and just look at the photos on Instagram. They make it look cooler than it...
Read moreI went for a comedy show, and was surprised to find an art gallery at this underground tunnel. There were art works along the walls. It was a combination of videos, street/graffiti or modern art, whatever you call them. They were bold and colorful. The old underground trolley tunnel was kind of dark and there were wooden boards on the abandoned tracks. I would be mindful walking around. It was warm if not hot. Not much of air circulation down there. I sweated a lot. There was a booth selling drinks, but I wouldn’t dare to drink anything, because there was no bathroom, Period. One more thing, Internet connection was slow and spotty.
There were five comedians performed for an hour show. Three were mediocre and two were awkward. I would give the show 4 out of 10 at most. Nevertheless it was a nice alternative comedy venue at an...
