Here comes a long one:

To set the scene, I am from out of state, and my friend forgot her ID at home. We saw lovely reviews for this place, and thought we should give it a try for our other friends birthday. We try to order 3 martinis and two appetizers, they asked for our IDs. My friend and I show ours, then explained that our other friend forgot her ID home in NJ. They asked us if she has a picture of the ID, and she said she didn’t think so. So the server said, okay we can only give it to the girls who showed their ID.We said, no problem with that we understand. Then, 5 minutes later, another server came up and told us since not everyone at the table has an ID they can’t serve us any alcohol. We said totally understand that’s fine. We then found a picture of her ID, and she goes down stairs to show them, and they say they can’t accept it, even though one server told us that a picture would be fine.. Then, we told them, okay that’s fine no problem. To set more of a scene, I am a type 1 diabetic, and I needed food. We are sitting at the table for 25 minutes until the second server came up to us, and said did you find the ID? We were like no, we just have the picture. Then he goes, yea, we can’t use that. Then we asked, well is the food still coming? They then told us they can not serve us food because we do not have IDs. One, that is ridiculous and two, they should have told us right away. We wasted so much of our time for a law that doesn’t exist.

This could all have been avoided if they asked for our IDs when we walked in. Not to mention, the bar tender was extremely rude. Very disappointed with the communication...

Great bar with great vibes and even better employees. I truly cannot convey how grateful I am for the amazing employees at this bar! After fainting at the bottom of the stairs Friday night, the employees all immediately sprang into action, making sure that I was ok and asking questions while they called for paramedics. They even knew that I hadn’t been drinking, properly conveying that I was having a true medical issue. The first thing I remember is one of them telling me that I wasn’t alone and everything was going to be ok. Fainting episodes are always very disorienting and even painful for me, but everyone made me feel completely safe and comforted. They ensured no onlookers made me uncomfortable or laughed, really minimizing my immense embarrassment about the whole experience. They were so respectful, and one man in particular truly took care of me the entire time. Honestly, I’m sure they did even more than I was aware of, and I am so grateful for their assistance. This is an absolutely amazing bar that simply put my safety above all else. I have never been treated with such genuine care, thoughtfulness, and kindness during a fainting episode. My only regret is not getting any of their names to properly thank them for their help, so I really hope they see this! Your help meant the world to me, and I cannot wait to tell all of my friends to come to...

Looks like a dive. Kind of is a dive. I would walk past and see a ton of people and thought maybe it was just a cheap weekend hangout for the intern crowd. After finally stopping by, I was so wrong! It has all the charm of a dive bar in the best way. The outside tables kind of slant towards the street, the staff is charming if always a little shorthanded and seems to know everybody, the crowd definitely skews young. The drinks are stellar. Dogs are not just allowed but welcome - there are dog bowls out everywhere and if you don’t have one the staff will bring one without you even needing to ask. And the food is definitely not dive bar food. It is high-quality and delicious but accessible. I have gotten the pimento cheese, the street corn, and I’ve tried the flatbreads and sandwiches. I like the tots but they have this kind of sweet seasoning on them that may be unexpected. I wasn’t sure if I liked it but it was one of those things that I just kept eating anyway and it grew on me. Similarly, I got the Greek salad and it comes with these huge chunks of plant-based gyro meat that doesn’t look that appealing but is actually delicious. If you are walking by and thinking about giving this place a try, do it! It’s fun,...

Commodore DC was such a vibe! We kicked things off with some drinks, starting with their spiciest beverage (forgot the name, oops) and it was fire! Followed it up with the signature Commodore cocktail, which was also a banger. The Totchos with shaved steak were next-level; huge portion, could've used some sour cream or cream sauce, but still hit the spot! The wings were the real MVPs, OG dusted with blue cheese—unreal! Definitely ordering those again. Now, the fried pimiento cheese balls were a letdown; not crispy, too oily, and lacked flavor. They were a curveball since everything else was on point. Shoutout to Carl for the top-notch service, and the vibe was just right—super cozy with great energy!

Over and over one of my favorite places in DC. The recent menu change just confirmed this. Had a quick bite with a colleague and it was incredible! The Commodore checks every box: chill vibe, great service, insane back bar (dozens of spirits you won’t find anywhere else), and sneaky good food. Lots of creative, healthy additions to the menu. We had the burrata salad and it was perfection. And don’t miss the wine here, either! This is a restaurant for everyone.

Pretty cool bar that we stumbled upon. I got the alright already burger (vegan burger option) with a side order of fries. I’m 95% sure the burger toast (their “hybrid bun”) was cooked in butter - making this non vegan. I am not sure though but it tasted like it. Otherwise it was really delicious and the fries were good! We sat outside, the bar itself is incredibly tiny. I’d definitely come back, but likely moreso for the drinks vs dinner.
